As for things that can carry 4 JJs, I'm not really sure there's any reason to take anything other than the MAD. Sure the GHR is a better back stabber, but do you really need a backstabber once you have a Tactics 9 pilot, upgraded lasers/ACs and a MAD?

Yeah, I was saying aside from missiles. Sure the ANH can't boat missiles of any variety.

The ANH is just so ridiculous. It may not have the most available tonnage, but its number 2 or 3 (don't remember if it has more or less than the BSK). On top of that, it has the flat 20% damage boost to ballistics in an expansion that added some pretty loving strong ballistic weapons that are hot enough on their own to tap into your heat capacity. I dont' think there's anything that can match it for raw damage potential. I haven't done the math, but I'm pretty sure the ++damage LBXs are approaching SRM+++ levels. And of course the UACs are ridiculous. Who needs back shots, when you can just bore through the front, or when you can just do precision strike headshots through bulwark with UAC spam?

The only thing that would be even more ridiculous than an ANH would be a 100 ton version of the WHM with its capacitors and ANH level tonnage. Hell, a 100 ton WHM with an AS7's tonnage/movement profile would be enough.

Is there any reason why after equipping the NARC Beacon thing I get told I don't have the right ammo for it - does it need something specific from the store, and not SRM/LRM ammo?

Yes this NARC thing actually needs ammo which can be bought separately. I don't see it for sale very often, though.

I'm now sitting at +22 rep with the pirates and am "liked". They have started offering me up to 4-skull missions.

The ANH can't fit 3 Jump Jets. They buffed its speed to keep up with the 95m assaults, but max JJs are capped at 2, so the other 95m assaults can jump around in 120m hops.

OK thanks - will just keep hunting around. How do I kick off the Heavy Metal content? Is it a specific Flashpoint, or do the mechs and equipment just start to appear in the game?

I think there's a unique Flashpoint, but the mechs and gear will just show up. Like when I got jumped by an Archer during a random mission.

My LRM Wolverine (not getting many mechs with missile slots) ran out of ammunition and I charged it into melee. Stamped on the cockpit of a knocked-over shadowhawk then ran over to a hunchback and punched it right in its cockpit too before it could react, one-shotting them both.

Thinking maybe I should make a full-melee lance because that was hysterical.

The new guns only show up in shops and the black market. You won't be able to salvage them from missions.

I see a lot of really interesting sounding equipment getting destroyed on the mechs I am fighting, so I guess time to focus on legs only and see what salvage I can get.

For anyone interested in the earlier talk about 5+ parts to assemble mechs using CustomSalvage, it's been updated to 1.8 (also requires CustomComponents).

There was a working 1.8 version before now but it was inside roguetech and had settings with a ton of roguetech-specific stuff.

If it's the new quirk equipment on the Heavy Metal mechs like the CQC Suite on Vulkans or Vectored Thrust on Phoenix Hawks, those never go to salvage.

The problems seem to be centered around the power management stuff, I was having the driver crash when waking from sleep and all I was using is a custom fan profile.

My Marauder build was completely different and so hilariously OP I don't even want to think about optimizing it even more.

2x ERML++
JJ, DHS, cockpit mod+++, gyro+++
Extra armor

Gauss to the head - screwed
Gauss to any location with ammo in it - crit through armor, screwed
Any combination of non-gauss weapons to the head - head often blown off anyway lmao
Armor blown off any section from a previous hit - LB pellets crit everything, screwed again

I don't even know if this is in the top 10 of possible Marauder headshot configs but it's the kill king of everything even when I've got assaults.

You can probably drop the 2 ERSL for a small dip in percentages since it's not too often you'll actually be in range to use them.

well then I have done all the flashpoints and looted all the faction stores. Im pretty sure the bull shark is unlocked but i have yet to see a single one. I did the flashpoint with the drones and there was some text that seemed to indicate there was more to the flashpoint but i havent seen anything.. There is no new dlc planned so if I dont want to play MP im effectively done right?

There's a blue flashpoint marker that can be really hard to see if you have black market access. At the bottom center of the map. If you click on the right system it will pop up.

Ah, my bad.

Didn't realize that the ANH was a cheater mech too. Unless they're trying to simulate star league construction equipment (XL engine) like they do with the AS7-HT. Regardless, it makes it even more ridiculous.

Man oh man was the salvage from the last Helavy Metal FP mission disappointing. I thought I'd at least get some DHSs or something, but no. And I was headshotting everyone.

Storyline-wise, the team is also rushing to get the gently caress away after the fight, so it makes a little sense that you're not able to cart away Mech parts as salvage after that particular fight.

That's actually true in lots of missions, and I'd like to see reflected in future games.

I refused black market access just so i could spot it. I waited 90 days and nothing. Was it the flashpoint with the mother bear ai? I did that one already

It's sort of like the campaign where you have to do some stuff to trigger the next flashpoint mission. Go do some contracts.

The map beacon for it is blue and it says "Flashpoint Campaign" instead of an expiration date.
