Kentucky only just barely kicked out an absolutely hated GOP Governor. The state is Dixiecrat as all hell at best, really earning it's place in the SEC.

They're more or less equal, but this is definitely going to an extremely difficult tight rope to walk as a candidate. I've always said that Trump promised literally every single position on every issue, and seeing if you peel people away by taking about some of the good poo poo (like that time he was for medicare4all or free college or tons of construction jobs from infrastructure renewal). But its going to be hard to even do that, without getting into all of the other horrific poo poo he promised. It seems like a great way to turn yourself into a xenophobic candidate since it was at the heart of so many of his promises

More news from Virginia following Dem legislative wins: Republican state Senator won’t caucus with the GOP. Unfortunately the article doesn’t go into much detail other than she didn’t want Tommy Norment to be minority leader. Not sure if she wanted someone to be more CHUDish or less CHUDish in the role. Sounds like she’ll still vote GOP all things considered, so it’s not really a pickup for the Dems, as far as I can tell. But it is a little example of how fractured Republicans are becoming in this state, which should be encouraging to everyone.

His replacement would not be the Majority Leader and would be at the bottom of the seniority list. Plus, the symbolism of throwing him out on his rear end for his complicity would be huge. If having a D next to her name gives Democrats a majority in the Senate, it's another huge win. The actual person in the seat and the way they vote are sometimes the least important things about them.

His message of "Make Washington work for Kentucky" will play very well because a lot of people there feel forgotten about by the party establishment and no one is doing anything to make their lives better because everyone throws up their hands and goes "LOL Kentucky". Since there are rumblings about passing the USMCA without labor protections, now is a really good time to reach out to your reps and to crawl up inside their assholes if they are even THINKING about passing it without adding labor protections and protecting unions. Call and don't stop calling. Make your voice heard that it is UNACCEPTABLE to even think about passing something that gives this administration a victory without claiming your pound of flesh by carving out protections for working peoples. If this administration wants a victory, then they are going to loving pay out the nose for it. Get active, Get angry, and Get involved. Also, DEMAND the PRO Act be brought to a vote. https://theintercept.com/2019/12/02/nancy-pelosi-usmca-pro-act-unions/ friendbot2000 fucked around with this message at 16:19 on Dec 2, 2019 |

So I live in Utah in a heavily gerrymandered district (UT-3). Most of our reps and senators (Romney and Lee) are bought and paid for republicans, but I thought that I might as well sign up to put my name on the ballot and try to shift the window leftish. But outside of that, I'm wondering what I can do maybe on a local or state level that might actually have a chance at running and winning.

Water reclamation, whatever. Look for positions on the ballot that don’t even have a candidate listed. It’s likely too late to get on a ballot now but just keep an eye out.
