Yeah, but he did absolutely nothing of merit in the movie after the bombing run intro and was given such wonderful material as your mom crank calls and making mean faces at Holdo. Totally wasted in his parallel plotline during TLJ just like Boyega too.

No. It was a fine space wizard movie. Middle of the pack-ish. Some bad flaws but :thatsstarwars:

It was good. Some minor details were bad, could have used a final rewrite, but the overall arc was fine, the big set pieces were gorgeous and it was great fun if you let it be

Not only did I not hate it, I thought it was really, really good and a perfect end to the new trilogy. I don’t think that’s the common goon or critic consensus, but there’s my vote regardless.

of all the things in the movie they could complain are too coincidental, they go for 'the protagonists find the corpse of the guy they're looking for in a dangerous cave right next to where he parked his spaceship'?

Seems a bit more coincidental that nobody stole and scrapped the spaceship over the X amounts of years it was parked there in perfect working condition.

It was ok for what it was. The Disney Star Wars have been all different flavors of really bad movies, but this was the best of the lot and I increasingly feel like the others weren’t close.

is it possible to not like the movies without being a “pseudo-intellectual misanthropist”

or is liking a Star Wars movie a prereq to bring a real-intellectual misanthropist

He's been doing this a lot over the past few years with movies that are mostly just forgettable rubbish (Avengers, etc) and he rants a lot less in general. Maybe he's just tired of getting yelled at by irate manchildren about movies that he clearly doesn't give a toss about one way or the other. Hopefully it's not because BBC told him to tone it down, I miss his rants.

Lol, if you liked this movie you have very low standards but are primed to ingest whatever poo poo Disney will continue to pump out.

At least you’ll have big flashing lights to enjoy while you turn off your brain.

I love that Disney has managed to make movie reviews partisan and people will defend trash to own the effeminate, elite movie reviewers.

Yes but it's not indefinite and even before they expire the public zeitgeist could change in their favor making it not worth the trouble to sue.

Since it's over and done with, can I just say how incredibly disappointed I am that the trilogy wasn't a Rey-Poe-Finn-Kylo road movie? The original setup is almost perfectly Oz, if you have to copy something shot for shot. A coward, a heartless bastard, a brainless hunk and an outsider to pull them all together in a fantastic journey. Or something, because this was crap and I'm surprisingly angry at how garbage it all was. The gently caress were you hacks at Disney thinking? The wasted potential boggles the mind.

It's really something to see someone like JJ Abrams demonstrate that he has absolutely no writing talent whatsoever, then look at his IMDB page and see many more writing credits off in the future.

Maybe they will Trevorrow him and fire him from future projects. But then he’ll just say Disney made him make the movie poo poo and thus much poo will be flung.

Brett Ratner and Michael Bay are both near perpetually employed in Hollywood and make Abrams look like Scorsese in comparison. Big budget studio films suck hard as an institution.

If I help you now it sets a bad example to my fans.
My favorite thing about this new movie is how it makes the message of all Star Wars be that the only thing that matters is family pedigree. gently caress those poor dirt farmers like Luke and literal slave Anakin. The evilest villian of them all kills your whole family then his offspring steals your name.

Turns out you were worthless the whole time poor people. Haha oops.
