Bananas are still way, way too cheap for an imported tropical fruit. I will continue to protest exploited workers by not buying them. This has nothing to do with the fact that I think bananas are kind of nasty.

All of the places I've worked in the last ten years if the uniform was restaurant-specific (i.e. a logo tee or specific button-up rather than a color) they'd "cover" the first and any extra were on the employee but usually not at an egregious price. Just inconvenient. I've been lucky/picky, though.
