Turns out you were worthless the whole time poor people. Haha oops.

Very cool that Rey's parents are nobody when literally everyone else related to Palpatine is amazingly powerful. Anakin and his kids, Palpatine's granddaughter, everyone that Palpatine has been directly or indirectly related to has been an omega force user except his own loving kid apparently lmao, very cool dynasty storyline when the end of the last movie was "everyone can be special" and you forgot to have Finn say that he's special so it might as well not be true.

It was ok for what it was. The Disney Star Wars have been all different flavors of really bad movies, but this was the best of the lot and I increasingly feel like the others weren’t close.

Of all the treatments it felt the most authentically Star Wars. That's what I've been looking for and have not really seen in a sequel so far since Rogue One.

It was palatable and I didn't feel as burned out as I did after TLJ and Solo. That might be a low bar and it says a lot of the franchise that not reaching those levels of mind-numbing exhaustion is refreshing, but I did genuinely get some level of entertainment from Rise of Skywalker.

The Disney superhero stuff was meticulously planned out for a decade and still produced like three average movies and one good one.

The fact that they hastily slapped this trilogy together in panic between movies is absolutely astounding given the amount of money involved.

But they have trained a generation to defend “fun, dumb movies” which absolves them of producing something that provokes any sort of emotional response beyond staring blankly at cgi and getting small dopamine hits when they recognise someone or something from the old movies.

I think it sucks that men in movies can't have friendships or show emotions without general consensus being "they are gay the characters should be gay for each other". That's kind of homophobic in it's own right and enforcing the toxic masculine idea that feelings are gay.

Foretold by Gyromancy
One of the biggest problems - aside from not scripting out the main trilogy ahead of time - was the super compressed release schedule. There's been a Star Wars movie every year since 2015. Even if the movies were good some fatigue would have set in. They treated it like Marvel while ignoring that Marvel has lots of different settings, time periods, and characters to give you at least a modicum of variety. They should have just released one movie every 2-3 years at most so viewers would actually anticipate it a little.

I feel like the plot was ok in broad strokes, minus the Rey is a Palatine poo poo. But they just went about everything the dumbest way possible.

Bring the emperor back? Sure, not the best move story-wise but we get to watch the actor chew the scenery which is a delight at least. How do you do it? Eh.. put in the opening text and have him say "I died once but got better." No other explanation necessary

He’s a dark wizard who, as per episode 3, has mystic powers over life and death. It is dumb that they brought him back, but not because they didn’t explain it enough.

Don't worry, erasing it was totally balanced with that half-second onscreen kiss between lady soldiers who have no names or dialogue because that's their only scene in the entire film/trilogy. Progress!

In ROTS? He totally does, just not in the way he pretends to. He implies to Anakin that he can cheat destiny and save Padme to get him under control. Then as soon as he has Anakin inside he’s like “oh btw I don’t have the power to keep people from dying YET, but if you help me out I’m sure we can get it”, so that Anakin will keep working for him. But at the end of the movie it’s revealed that he absolutely can save people from dying by a combination of robotic medicine with the stolen life force of others — which is exactly what Zombie Sheev’s big plan for resurrection is in this movie too, weird robo arm thing connected to spine + possession/“force dyad” vampirism.

No, that was good. C3PO is a funny side kick character.

Star Wars relies on C3PO being treated this way by the movie.
