The discussion about moderation broadly is important and should definitely continue, I think. On the specific bad modding decision to ban Benghazi 2 for a month: It's interesting and telling that the only explanation given thus far is "holistically, based on her body of work, she earned a one month ban." It's troubling that nobody has been able to explain why the post in question triggered that though, or was even worthy of a probation. It feels oddly vindictive to take away someone's ability to shitpost over the holidays (which, I'd expect, for many of us is a time when we are stressed, potentially have too much free time, and need an outlet). Free Benghazi 2.

A two week probe as penance doesn't actually do anything to prevent the issue from happening again. It's just a two week push, much like the push the admins put on the group of transphobes that got hit with their 30s+ban. It doesn't actually solve any issues, it just makes people feel better in the short term.
