All good. I was just fuckin with ya.

And between last post and now she just got notice that she got in to #2 school with half tuition covered, no word on grants yet. So of her top 6 schools, she got in to 5, with two offering half scholarships, and two offering full, with no word from the last one. It's a great situation to be in.

Ironically it's still her #1 choice school that is making her wait till April to tell her if she got in. But it's a really tough school and the more we learn it's probably not as good a fit for her as she thinks. She's not a hard driving competitor, and we're hearing it's very competitive, even after you get in, with a low graduation rate. I'm hoping she picks one that actually wanted her from the beginning.

I hope all you other dads get to feel pride like this, I love her so much.

That's excellent! See how long those scholarships/grants are for. I've seen some scholarships that only lasted a year or two so it's good to plan ahead. College takes 5 years sometimes so you may need to budget/account for that regardless of which school she goes to.

I got into my first choice college right out of high school, then I proceeded to get kicked out of there because I had no study skills or drive to be there; I was just going through the motions because it was expected of me.

I worked with a lot of college freshman while I was in college and I saw this so much. Straight to college after high school is not for everyone.

I have TWIC, so I just use that to fly.

Edit: Ironically, TWIC documentation requirements are easier and you only need one form of ID to get it, as long as you're okay with getting fingerprinted and having a background check done. Also takes less time than going to the DMV :v:

I can use TWIC card to fly if needed? I have mine, but don’t have that real ID BS and don’t carry around my passport.

Yeah my lawyer said it was I was probably going to get denied the first time because of my age, he said if I was over 50 it would be a slam dunk but he's expecting it will go through eventually.

Man filling out the paperwork and writing down all the details of my bullshit made me realize how hosed up I really am, if it wasn't for my wife supporting us right now I'd be hosed if I had to work full time, and even then there's a very small pool of jobs I'd be able to actually do.

Yeah, that's what really drags me down. How the gently caress do you even apply for poo poo. " might call in sick for a month straight" doesn't seem like something people look for in an employee.

On disability i can probably get my own sandblasting and auction stuff going again and build myself a little life without needing to be 100% productive to survive, and if i don't work for a month or 10 here and there, big whoop. If i can earn something it starts reducing the cheque after like $1100 but i don't lose it. Really how the entire system should work.

Now i just have to hope the party in power here doesn't start kicking everybody off for any and every excuse they can find like they did in the 90s.

Could have made it easier to fill out online but no, too many people would apply then can't have that!

I've had to file for short term disability. Three hours on the phone Friday, another two and a half today while the claim still isn't finalized. I think most of the remaining stuff is them getting info from the doctors but it wouldn't surprise me if I have another couple hours of BS.

Then they had paperwork that I had to fill out, wife couldn't do it sitting right next to me. Pages of crap while I have a PICC line in my dominant arm and can barely hold a pen.

I piss hot for at least 4 substances based on my scripts, possibly more depending on the metabolites they test. My manager has been tearing his hair out for WEEKS about his issues getting our computers to upgrade to Win10 reliably. Even remoting in at 2AM from home when he got an idea laying in bed. He is a the epitome of an rear end in a top hat old man flexing whenever the bosses aren't around, to the level of trying to get staff to 'step up' and fight.

I've known this whole time that many years ago we (he and I) installed a program that completely destroyed the ability to upgrade from Win7. Merry XMas dickhead!

It's incredible. I had an idea for a production change back in June and they told me as I was finishing up my shift today that it was getting rolled out next year so I get a small bonus for that.
