Amber was so distraught over the UK election she went back in time to write that lovely piece about going to a NYC-DSA tech worker event, and even further back to argue w/ Kath Barbadoro that Louis CK is a worker and real working class women don't care about working alongside sex-assaulters. If Bernie loses maybe we'll find out that she somehow brought the first slaves to the US.

i had a great revolutionary organization going, but it all went to poo poo a few years ago. Since it was vertically organized though, when a member in leadership was gifted Frostmourne by the Lich King it all fell apart. The corruption got them.

My experience with my coworkers on the production floor is whispering "eat the rich" when we think the bosses arent around and meeting up after work to play games and talk about living in late stage capitalism. My experience with activists is going to a meeting and having someone explain how Trump is actually playing 4D chess, is an agent of Putin, and how US socialists should try to mimic China in every way possible while everyone else nodded in agreement. It ultimately depends on what you mean by "activists" but in my experience activists are far more likely to be dumbass LARPers while actual working class people who have radical politics have enough skin in the game to take this stuff seriously.

fwiw i think that the point that remoanerism was poison is sound, but i don't think that labour could've won by offering a competing vision of vrexit. they would've been faced with a mighty saueeze between the remainer hardliners and the leave-at-all-costs blood cultists. farage would've been yammering about how labour brexit wasn't brexit at all whereas the remainers - including the mass membership they literally just got back - would've been severely demoralised and started defecting to the lib dems and greens brexit was gravely mishandled by the liberal factions (and theresa may) since the referendum, allowing it to stew into a bitter identitarian mess. the second referendum was always seen as a remainer vehicle and thus lost all legitimacy as a compromise position despite the genuinely decent case for it

Atrocious Joe posted:cursed sword An ornate thrusting sword, designed for a man of small stature, held in either hand. Some say it was forged in remembrance of a legendary warrior from the East, but a more likely origin is the maker’s confusion hearing a joke beyond his scope. Regarding Amber, I originally disliked her and have come around to thinking she's mostly good but suffers from (as others mentioned) a romanticized view of "the rural/post-industrial working class." Her view of city people is likely colored by the fact that her own circles are frankly pretty bougie. Matt actually strikes me as the most down-to-Earth Chapo in terms of not being influenced by making a bunch of money and living in Brooklyn. Will gives me the impression of someone who has kinda never been outside of pretty privileged circles. Sorta related to this, but what's up with their weird aversion to going to the South? Do they not realize that major Southern cities, while not comparable with major Northern/Western ones, are still a hell of a lot nicer than, say, Des Moines? A lot of people who live in places like NYC seem to have some very strange ideas about what the south is like, at least based off my experience going to college there where it seemed like all the native New Yorker kids thought the South was 100% rural farmland. Fun fact: When I first started listening to Chapo before actually seeing what the Chapo boys looked like, I thought Felix was very fat and Will was skinny.

I'm really appreciating the depth of the latest series of Revolutions. I'm at the part where Duncan describes the four groups of maybe a dozen people who eventually make up the SR. Is this all just common knowledge that would be in any book or is Duncan synthesizing a lot of previous work?

Shout out to the people who talked about Knowledge Fight in this thread, their latest episode about Bill Cooper where they drill down super hard into the history of hard right conspiracy theories was incredibly interesting. They mentioned a book called "None dare call it conspiracy" as the genesis for a lot of this poo poo and how it utilizes a lot of cult brainwashing techniques in ita text and that was very illuminating. They said they will eventually cover the book in an episode and I am very much looking forward to it.
