I like how some people try to separate out the "micro-generation" between Gen X and Millennials. That line is mostly drawn between computers being specialist tools and everyday and pundits think there needs to be a word for folks who grew up in the transition between the two, since we can tend to be digital or analog as needed. Never-mind that generational generalizations are useless when applied to the individual anyway and highly dependent on region/class. And yet for all the names like Xennial that they try to use, nobody goes for the obvious one to describe a group straddling meatspace and the computer world: we are the Cyborg Generation.

One big intragenerational split is boomer parents vs. gen X parents. If you ask the early '90s babies, "for your friends whose parents you haven't met, can you guess how old their parents are?" they probably can

AITA for letting another man touch my butt? I am a woman in my early 20's, who's currently on a trip with a group of friends, including my boyfriend of six montha, and my friend named Peter, who is in his mid 20's. Over the past few days i have developed a cyst/pimple-like thing on my butt. It could also be an ingrown hair, i'm not totally sure. Whatever it is, IT HURTS. The area is super sore, and there's so much pressure. And because of the location, i can't really deal with it myself. Peter works in an aestheticians office. He's not a medical professional, but he has recieved training in hygiene, and has helped with several extractions like this. In my head it seemed pretty natural to ask him for help. He's qualified, and there's absolutely nothing sexual about draining a cyst. My boyfriend and our friends went for a walk, and i asked Peter to perform the exorcism on my little rear end-demon. However, my boyfriend walked in on us, and he just yelled WHAT THE gently caress. I asked him what the problem was, and we started arguing. It ended with him packing his stuff and leaving. I kind of understand how it might have looked at first sight. But to me it seemed pretty clear that nothing shady was going on: I was on a table with towels under my butt, and a desk lamp putting a spotlight right on my rear end. Peter was wearing gloves, and there were bits of tissue with blood and pus right next to us. My boyfriend on the other hand is super mad at me. He think that it's practically cheating, because Peter was looking at/touching my butt. He thinks i should have asked him for help, or waited 5 days before i could see a doctor. I didn't want my boyfriend to do it, because it's kind of gross/embarassing, and Peter is more qualified. I also didn't want to wait, because i was in a lot of pain, and that thing was ready to pop anyways. I refused to apologise to my boyfriend, because i honestly don't think i did anything wrong. Reddit, AITA? EDIT: I didn't tell my boyfriend beforehand because i was embarassed. I realised that was wrong, and i have apologised for that over text. My BF if not answering my calls. My boyfriend is still mad, because he thinks it was inherently wrong. If i had told him beforehand, he probably would have said no. He thinks that he should have done it, or that i should have waited 5 days so i could see a doctor.

I mean, it would have been nice for her to tell her boyfriend about the issue so he wouldn't walk in on other guy touching her naked butt and get unpleasantly surprised, exactly as happened. It's one of those dumb sitcom fiascos that wouldn't happen if they communicated even a little.

I'm having fun imagining this guy barging into an operating room "hey how dare you touch her butt" to a team of doctors and nurses. Also if she left out that Peter just happened to be naked for this I will just lose it.

AITA for telling my son it’s got nothing to do with us that his girlfriend feels snubbed after he accused his father and I of being unwelcoming over Christmas? My son has had a girlfriend for a year. He’s 27 and she’s 23. They met at the gym and my sons father and I are hesitant to welcome her ‘fully’ into the family because, well, they’ve only known each other a year. Let’s be realistic here. My son is also known to be flighty so my expectations are they won’t last long- his career is everything to him and he always puts that first, That was my thinking when I got her a Christmas gift- my hub and I had taken a quick vacation in London before Xmas and I like to shop in a fantastic store called primark- they are kinda like Walmart but with more of a focus on clothing and home wear. I purchased her a really cute fuzzy pair of insulated socks. we got our son a more expensive gift because obviously, he’s our son. Prior to Christmas Day my son had insisted he wanted to bring his girlfriend over for a few hours, of course we accepted. She seemed very taken and appreciative of her gift at the time. Now this is my fault, I admit it: I left the price tag on the socks (£4/$6) but I didn’t think she noticed. However today I called my son because I hadn’t heard from him in a couple days and he seemed off on the phone. I asked what was up and he said ‘mom, you could have got her a more thoughtful gift... it’s embarrassing you got me something so expensive and her something so small.’ I told him he AND she were being ungrateful and what did he expect from me? I asked if his girlfriend had said anything and he said it was hard for her not to be hurt when she got me a personalized gift for something I like but I hadn’t paid enough attention to her interests to get her something personal. I’m furious here. My husband is staying out of it, my daughter is irked with me because she got my sons girlfriend makeup that she knew she wanted, apparently I’m the only one who missed the memo, but I feel like a gift is a gift and she should be grateful regardless. My son also left a snide message that his girlfriend had given us all thoughtful gifts and I should have done the same but feel like I’ve completely been turned off her.

razorrozar posted:this reads fake to me but i think its author should be anyway on principle Why? Her sister destroyed thousands in his property because rather than watch her kids she stole his stuff and handed it to them so they could watch YouTube. (At an hour late enough the op had gone to bed) When the destroyed stuff was found she was completely unapologetic about her behavior and nobody showed any care about replacing it, focusing on how it would hurt them with zero regard for having hurt the OP. It's fake absurdity because the OP is a college kid that had to save up for the tablet, and yet has the money for a lawyer, but loaning thousands in someone else's property to kids that smash stuff isnt a cool thing to do.

From the writing style the author is clearly an rear end in a top hat, but as presented the sister just as clearly the one in the wrong, especially given that the iPad was something the author used for work. But as mentioned, it's either fake or everyone involved is a giant idiot for not suggesting they merely repair the tablet instead.

I figure it's already a red flag when kids managed to break expensive electronics. Plenty of kids treasure their entertainment devices like their own baby and they're not the easiest thing to break unless you're actively trying, either they're way too young to be allowed around electronics unsupervised or are in the habit of breaking anything in reach for kicks, which seems to be a pretty good indicator of shittastic parents going by this thread.

He didn't break up with her on the spot, he expressed his feelings on the matter without outright issuing an ultimatum. We don't know how she has responded, and he has said that he's planning to break up with her if she decides to go anyway. I agree that there's a lot of Pete-ness going on here, regarding self-respect, boundaries, communication, etc. But the really amazing thing about Pete was the line with Ultimatums; Pete did not issue an ultimatum like the new guy did; infact, he had that amazing line about "this is not an ultimatum, I'm leaving you". That is what takes Pete from a great guy into a Legend. Amen.
