This one isn’t unpopular according to sentiment, but it IS unpopular based on purchasing behavior. Video games (mostly MMOs) that have an expansion completely invalidate or otherwise kill all earlier content are bad and dumb. WoW has an expansion, everything before that expansion may as well have not existed and is now just a stepping stone to be skipped over as fast as possible, hopefully by selling an upgrade token. Destiny 2 did this too. FFXIV is a good case of invalidating but kind of time capsuling old content so I’m gleefully doing poo poo from vanilla and every earlier expansion.

Borderlands isn't a great series but at least it pretty much amounts to a normal game with a normal amount of content in the end, which is more than I can say for most loot games which are basically weird faux job/gambling time wasters. You can just play the campaign and it's basically just a run of the mill shooter unlike Destiny, which is just like 4 hours of content recycled 100 times
