suck my woke dick posted:tbf I literally want these people to just die off from old age and lack of NHS care after 5 years of post Brexit Toryism. these are the boomers who will stand in the way of any social progress and latch onto dumb culture war bullshit because change is scary and minority rights will advance one flag-waving chud heart attack at a time It's sad that it's coming with such a cost but it's a self-solving problem. The olds are generally the ones most in need of good social care and a strong NHS and they keep voting to abolish both.

And anyone trying to argue that it would have been possible to Brexit without selling the NHS and abandoning all carbon targets will have big a credibility problem. Partly because that will no longer be true, when Brexit means ‘the thing the Tories did 3 years ago’. But mostly because arguing against class interests is like fighting uphill; Nothing is harder than making a man understand something if his dividend depends on him not understanding it. Pensioners are not working class; they are net purchasers of labour whose interests are served by falling wages. They can longer be reached by any political message the Labour Party can credibly send.

Electing a Labour leader that will spend the next 5 years going on about Brexit is a terrible idea. 'course, when everything goes to poo poo in 2021 after the transition period ends, saying to the electorate "lol shouldn't have voted Brexit then you stupid fuckers" would be loving stupid. Not really sure what to do at that point tbh, since I'm sure at that point there'll be a lot more tough choices/fiscal credibility/last Labour government, which the public will buy hook line and sinker because cheating and lying loving works. That's why I don't think we can win again without an angry and organised working class, so imo we should all get agitating.

The Tories are going to 100% blame everything going wrong on the EU - it's worked for 20 years, why stop now. "Everything would be better if they had given us a fair trade deal, its nots Boris's fault we had to crash out." The next Labor leader has to be able to stand up and hammer home the fact that with a massive majority, everything that goes wrong from this point on is the Tories fault. The key thing is to at this point act as if no one was foolish enough to vote for the Tories but don't blame people for the mistakes, if you have to mention it, just say people were lied to.

It raises an interesting question re why guillotining the capitalists isn't a great platform: those capitalists might be your mum, your grandad, or any other retired person, and "we're gonna guillotine your mum" isn't a great platform for winning elections on. This is a particular feature of late neoliberal capitalism, and it makes it hard to condemn capital without implicating your own support base, in a way that for Marx, Mao, or Lenin would not have been an issue. If we're looking at building parallel structures we need an analysis of how you do that in 21st century Britain.

Unless you know the game and build to just do good damage with a gun A blunderbuss can do pretty respectable damage at parrying range even without too much skill investment. It also does decent stagger, so even if you haven't got an opening for a visceral attack, you've often at least bought yourself time to dodge away.

Greetings comrades! Well, the christmas period is over, we're staring at the cold grey start of a new year, we're stuck with tories for the next five years.. Times like this call for something to lighten the mood and bring a little pleasure into our lives. You know what's really good for that? Fudge. After a brilliant response in December I'm now open for new orders, including a special Goon/UKMT only flavour again. If you'd like to try out some delicious handmade socialist fudge, then please drop me a PM here or send an email to fudjit.orders@gmail.com. And again, thank you to all the kind souls who placed an order last month! Flavours on offer for January are: * Vanilla - The original delicious recipe. * Milk Chocolate - Rich and creamy, made with Cadburys Dairy Milk * Sea-salt - A delicious contrast of sweet and salty flavours, made with high quality sea-salt flakes * Unicorn Barf - Fudge paired with marshmallows, decorated with sparkly unicorns! * Strawberries and Cream - Extra rich fudge made with cornish clotted cream, topped with freeze dried strawberries for a delicious sweet/tart combination. * Malted Milk Ball - Vanilla fudge embedded through and through with chocolate coated malted milk balls. A malty teaser! And the special Goon flavour- * Billionaires Shot-Dead - A twist on millionaire's shortbread; we upped the fudge content by a frankly ridiculous factor. Smooth vanilla fudge with crushed shortbread laced through it, then topped off with a layer of chocolate. Just the sort of thing to boost your energy levels for the struggles to come. Fudge is available in 100g bags at £3.50 each, or in 500g selection boxes for £15 Orders will be shipped out 1st class on January 23rd; postage for up to 1kg will be £3.55, and will be calculated per order on larger shipments. Thanks for your attention and custom. Camrath fucked around with this message at 14:11 on Jan 2, 2020 |

On the subject of jobseeking, BBC worklife has an article Is Sweden the best place to lose your job? quote:Being laid off from a job is never a pleasant experience, but Sweden’s ‘transition system’ promises to do far more than just get you back on your feet. quote:Sweden’s unique ‘transition system’, a nationwide private welfare service for workers who have become recently unemployed due to redundancy. Companies pay into ‘job security councils’, which provide skilled coaches who pick you up, dust you down and match your skills and ambitions with the market. There are 16 of these organisations, each covering a different sector of the economy and tasked with finding new jobs for workers who have lost their jobs for economic reasons. quote:As a result, Sweden has the best re-employment rates in the developed world – about 90% of laid-off workers are back in work within a year quote:[anecdote time] The company was covered by the scheme, which meant she was automatically assigned a personal job coach before she was laid off in June. The system kicks in as soon as layoffs are announced, to speed up the process of getting people into new jobs. The coach spotted a gap in Eva’s CV: technology had moved ahead, and Eva needed more training. The council paid for her to do an eight-week course The government doesn’t get involved, so how does this work? quote:In Sweden employers pay 0.3% of their total payroll into the job security councils, like an insurance policy against layoffs. During the good times, the money builds up; then, when there is a need to restructure or downsize, the councils are there to soften the blow. Workers have access to their services wherever trade unions have an agreement with employers – which in Sweden includes the overwhelming majority of workplaces, large and small, since 90% of employees work in unionised workplaces. quote:For individual businesses, the existence of this safety net makes it much easier to sell layoffs to the workforce, and ultimately to avoid industrial action in defence of jobs. Oh. No unions please, we’re british But the UK also has a transition system, where you transition into a Deliveroo cyclist

Graun liveblog:quote:YouGov included Yvette Cooper in its list of seven potential Labour leadership candidates for its poll of party members. (See 9.51am and 10.21am.) But, according to a story by Jason Groves in the Daily Mail, Cooper is expected to announce that she won’t be standing, because she has concluded that her opposition to Jeremy Corbyn would make her unelectable given how popular he is with members. Groves quotes a “friend” of Cooper’s as saying: Also it's very cool that their headline calls the poll with Starmer leading 'a blow to Continuity Corbyn', nice neutral phrasing there.
