Might as well, I see a ton of things in theaters and I'm already keeping a 1-5 rating system. This will get to me to write a lil something about each film. Adding all y'all https://letterboxd.com/aschaeffer/

Here's my Letterboxd: https://letterboxd.com/pospysyl/. My rankings are weighted towards the positive, since I only started rigorously putting in reviews this year and I'm backfiling for memorable movies.

Can you not review a movie without it logging you as having watched it again?
|
# ? Jan 1, 2020 17:14 |
|
If you find your original diary entry for it and edit that, it should work without logging it again.
|
# ? Jan 1, 2020 17:21 |
|
Marking it as having been seen before/rating it doesn't create a diary entry.

Hello, friends. Months ago, after a gentle nudging from a friend, I decided that on January 1st, I would start using Letterboxd. Unfortunately, I don't think I will ever move all my ratings/reviews from Criticker over, so I will be starting with a completely blank slate for the new decade. https://letterboxd.com/twin_cinema/ I will start reading this thread and adding people.
|
# ? Jan 2, 2020 16:58 |

Yeah, when I made Letterboxd I decided not to import everything from Criticker. So on one hand it's frustrating that my log only goes back to October 2014 and there's nearly 2,000 movies I've seen not featured on my account (I've seen Taxi Driver! Just not in 5+ years). On the other hand it's kind of nice to just look at it as a journal of my immediate thoughts and feelings for movies I've seen since graduating college. If I added them all now it would feel wrong.
|
# ? Jan 2, 2020 17:28 |

I only consider my film opinions from the past 15 years valid anyway. I had taste to some degree before I was 18, but I can't really trust my opinions of the time on a lot of movies. And even then, only really since my mid 20s are my opinions Objectively Good by my current standards. So I don't rate give a rating to anything that I haven't seen in the past decade and I don't watch something as watched if I haven't seen it since I was a teenager.
|
# ? Jan 2, 2020 17:40 |
|
I have been using Criticker since 2007, but didn't really start using it until 2009, and my reviews were really only from 2005-onwards. I started giving mini reviews around 2014. Essentially, this spans the time from when I was 18 until now. I like them as a time capsule, but I can't really stand by a rating I gave a film in 2010, because I don't remember much about it.

I splurged on a Pro account and changed my user name which also came with some sweet, sweet end of year stats that got totalyl skewed by me watching all the James Bond films. https://letterboxd.com/menonfilm/year/2019/ RE: Criticker, I wish there was a way to transfer over written mini-reviews, instead I must cut and paste them in chunks like an animal. Please don't tell me if there is a way because I've already done almost 1,000.

criticker had an api that you could query for stats and reviews etc.. if letterboxd has one also it could be simple to create a script to do that

https://letterboxd.com/jivjov/year/2019/ Well, to the surprise of absolutely no one, I watched a shitload of Star Wars content last year. Also, I do log short films, so some of my stats are a bit wacky (like how I have 11 films from Rian Johnson logged when the man's only made 5 theatrical features)

Adding people here and here is mine so you know where it's coming from.. a lot of drama and horror/sci fi is what I mostly watch. https://letterboxd.com/tfowl/

I did it, it's super easy, the only hiccup is that any review that ends with a " mark breaks the xml and carries over the result, so you have to do a little bit of tlc on the xml before importing. e: https://letterboxd.com/shrecknet/ Shrecknet fucked around with this message at 17:02 on Jan 6, 2020 |

I wish they would implement a way to enter a big fat zero star rating, 1/2 a star for Pinocchio in that picture seems like it should be a zero.

Just went through and added a bunch of y'all. Here's mine https://letterboxd.com/katef/ but rating things gives me anxiety because how can I judge Spring Breakers in comparison to True Grit??? I wish they didn't have half stars, I can't handle that kind of choice. But I'm trying to commit more to it going forward...we'll see. It's mostly horror cuz I was unemployed during this past October and spent my time living in the CineD spooktober threads.
