yeah the options for an invasion of Iran right now involve either re-invading and occupying Iraq again or re-invading and occupying Afghanistan again, since both countries are currently largely controlled by forces hostile to the US (in Iraq's case because the US is going out of its way to antagonize them lmao) and are absolutely not safe paths to route troops through Turkey is sure as hell not going to let the US use its territory as a staging ground for a land war with Iran, and the only other option is a desperate hail-Mary amphibious or airmobile invasion to establish a beachhead, which if it failed would get thousands of American troops killed in a really embarrassing way

The cardinal rule of these things is which would be stupider: trying a land invasion of Iraq and Iran simultaneously with a volunteer-only army, or attempting mass conscription of mostly left-wing young people for a war that everybody with a brain already knows is a bad idea at a time when trust in public institutions is at an all-time low?
