I still found IV very difficult after I first got to the world map because it was so impossible to navigate around you kept getting in fights with stuff that sapped your resources and one bad fight would end it. I ended up saving constantly but then getting myself into a situation where I couldn't heal up enough before I found the city again

Also the best world map music I have heard imo

A lot of people say this but I don't remember it at all. It was Apocalyse's World Map that instantly grabbed my attention:

Some games have that one song on their soundtrack that you cold play and instantly sum up the entire spirit of the game. FFX has "Someday the Dream Will End" and SMTIVA has this. Demons everywhere, war between Heaven and Hell the universe seems good and hosed. But don't you dare give up hope because life is still worth living and this is your home.

The best SMT world map theme is the one that plays for 30 seconds in between the 2nd to last and last dungeons in Nocturne.

It's to the point they even use this theme for the Bonds/Friendship ending, which couldn't end on a more happier/hopeful note.

Been enjoying myself now that you actually get some decent demons to start with compared to launch.

Got Huang Long/Amaterasu/Shiva/Yoshitsune as five stars so far and they've been wrecking poo poo.

I got Yoshitsune on the second to last step of his start dash gacha, is it still worth pulling on the final step to get a second one? I don't really understand exactly what you do with dupes, turn them into spirit?

Yeah, for 5★ dupes you generally want to spiritize them and use the spirits to unlock panels on the original, which gives it stat boosts and extra passives that don't take up a skill slot. One dupe is enough to unlock the first panel, which in Yoshi's case gives him +250 HP and +15% accuracy, which is pretty handy for him (especially if you don't have enough Kasane Magatama to level up Hassou Tobi all the way yet) as he has to make 8 accuracy rolls every time he uses Hassou Tobi.

The other sometimes viable uses for 5★ dupes are inheriting the skill in their first slot to something else (for skills in the last two slots just use a blank genome so you don't lose the demon) or fusing them into other 5★s. Neither of those applies here though since Vorpal Blade really isn't good enough to sacrifice a Yoshi over and he's gacha-exclusive so you can't fuse him into anything.

The game also lets you sacrifice demons to give XP or skill points to others or to promote them to a higher rarity but it's never worth getting rid of a natural 5★ for that.

Ya know, I realize Devil Survivor 2 is made to be beaten multiple times with NG+ but I really don't like New Game + in SMT games.

To me, demon collection and fusion is the heart and soul of the game, even more than the battles themselves. Finding and fusing and creating the demons you want is so much fun and it's fun because of all the mystery. You're making new things and it's exciting.

But in NG+, even in the IV games where you start over from Level 1, you still have a filled out Compendium. All the mystery has been sucked out. You have every demon you could ever need with every ability you could ever want.

I tried replaying IVA with NG+ and it was so dull. I think when I replay it and DeSu 2 in earnest I'm gonna start over from scratch.

I won't do a NG+ run of Strange Journey because starting the game off with all my end-game equipment just felt wrong and antithetical to the experience I enjoyed. I don't want to start off as an actual Doom Marine, I want to work my way into that status. Waltzing through sector A made me drop it. Unfortunately that means I won't be getting all the medals on 1 save file.

You know, if demons are figures formed by collective thought, I'm fine with them having Knuckles.

But only if it's specifically "& Knuckles". and uses entirely support skills because he's a lock-on bonus. He is also restricted only to the last slot in the party.

Detective No. 27

They aren't the main demographic but neptunia has a pretty big female fanbase, the lead artist is a woman, and she's talked about how the staff for the games has a lot of women. And anecdotally I've seen a lot of female artists and stuff on twitter who are big into it. (Or well, were a few years ago, Neptunia's kind of faded a bit.)

Not that this means you can't have whatever opinion you want to have on Neptunia, but. Not any kind of defense of the series, just women aren't a unified blob who don't engage with sketchy stuff, and all fanservice and goofiness aside, Neptunia is a series with cute, appealing designs and a focus on girls interacting with each other, obviously there'd be some women who are into that even with everything else it comes with.

women like moe and most of the original anime people decry as starting the 'moe' trend were by women and were enjoyed by a shitton of teenage girls

not that there arent guys into that stuff too or series in that vein that appeal mostly to guys, but, say, k-on was by a staff of 90% women and started fashion and social trends among teenage girls at the time. the manga magazine that most modern moe anime is adapted from, kirara manga time, employs a ton of female artists. again you're free to have any thoughts you like on the general artstyle and the story and character tropes that come with those sorts of series, but
