Shame about that crazy little 'reality' thing where we just gave the entire country something to rally around, working completely at odds with the previous propaganda but hey I guess gently caress reality though. Forget what your lying eyes are telling you, listen to the party, trust in the plan or some poo poo, trigger some liberals with your not being politically correct. Your kids will really feel bad next Thanksgiving when they're all proven wrong by the glorious orange god and have to come groveling back to you, tears in their eyes saying 'Sir, sir, I was wrong!' or what the gently caress ever motivates these people other than hatred and spite. I'm really curious how far up the chain people actually believe this (aside from Trump himself) and at the same time I don't want to know

Just listened to LRC where Rich Lowry's conclusion was this is a good thing because it teaches Iran we won't let them do what they want with impunity anymore. Certainly Iran will, at this point, reevaluate and make the sensible decision that further antagonizing the US is not a wise idea. The take of the thoughtful right. Curious what it'll be next week, since that was from Jan 3rd.

We'd probably only hear about it from a pilot that got an ACARS message.

This is seriously the Trump everyone was worried about in 2015 when it became clear he was a threat during the primaries and not a novelty candidate. He is stoking war because he wants a boost in the polls (or distraction from the impeachment) without any understanding of the implications or empathy for people on both sides plus doesn't know what the gently caress he is doing. He is threatening world stability for the first and direct time in his Presidency which, looking back, we were lucky to not see for as long as we did.

Tech Bros will be there just like the libertarians (a minority of the coalition that lends "respectable" cover to the base), but the majority of their financial base will still be relatively well off racist white people, most major corporations, and their voting base will be white nationalists/supremacists convinced that people darker than them are why their lives keep getting more miserable.

In his Senate address on Friday, McConnell accused Democrats of having “Trump Derangement Syndrome” multiple times. Turns out the term was coined as “Bush Derangement Syndrome” in 2003 by Charles Krauthammer. The first use with Trump was in 2015. I could not find any use of “Obama Derangement Syndrome” (shocking). And now it looks like Donnie is seeking to antagonize and consistently destroy any investment in soft power around the world. And I find myself trying to imagine what would need to happen to cause the Senate to break ranks with Trump.
