Contingency posted:Could be S42 released as both a SC module/episode-based drip feed, and a standalone copy at a later date. Let's say 99% of S42 players get their content as part of SC. CIG could give Crytek 100% revenue from the 30 or so standalone copies of S42 sold. Even better, give every S42 preorder a complimentary copy of SC that S42 runs within. There's lots of ways to end up having it both ways. with the way SC and sq42 development are seemingly tired together they probably can successfully argue that whatever approach they take the decision was made at the last minute. provided they keep any actual decision making verbal and between sufficiently trustworthy individuals which given the cig corporate structure should be pretty easy.

Der Shovel posted:An actual lawyer(tm) on Twitter was speculating that the lawsuit hinges on Squadron 42 being released, and discovery has turned up evidence from CIG indicating Squadron 42 isn't going to be released for "years", if ever. People bust down the door, demanding everything they have for Squadron. The six developers and 78 marketing people play the YouTube videos. "Show is the game code and it's status!" Is the angry demand! They play the YouTube videos again and a marketer goes "Tada!" and some developer out of Full Sail for three months stands up from behind his action figure of Boba Fett and blows a party horn. It turns out it really is all smoke and mirrors and Maya renders. The game is the dream of the best game, but it doesn't actually exist.

Pixelate posted:More people are getting the missing eyes = no HUD bug. It really is a thing. My thought would be some junior developer having to work with the Frankencode of Star Citizen and realizing somewhere that they have the eyeballs able to look where the player is looking and somehow these are connected, so the only way to keep the hud in player sight is to link them to the eyeballs, so whatever the player looks at the hud is there too if it's on. When the eyes vanish the hud can no longer be seen because they are further down the hierarchy link. It makes no sense at all which is why I'm probably 99% certain this is how they did it. Agony Aunt posted:Good points, i just don't see how they can release a SQ42 of any kind. Half the stuff they need for it is is either on the roadmap and not complete or its tech that's on the SC roadmap that is not likely to get done next year, or its stuff that isn't on any roadmap yet (but most open development company ever could possibly be working on it without it being on the roadmap). The roadmaps are either pure fiction, or their current "dev" team's understanding of their job. In either case, we can't learn anything from it. The court document revealed more of the status of SQ42 than anything CIG has said since 2011.

You know, knowing Chris Roberts, I'm extremely surprised that the screen doesn't flip to black and back every few moments, with a vertical wipe, to simulate the natural act of blinking your commando's eyelids. After all, as Chris has shown us repeatedly, he sees things every sane person edits out, like the sides of your helmet or head bob. The cameras are apparently already in the eyeball. In fact, instead of making the screen go black, they should actually animate the lids down over the camera view, that way they're not "cheating" and it's more fidelitious.

IIRC, it was when they either first went to GamesCom (which is in Germany) or had their first CitizenCon in Germany, but I'm pretty sure it was at GamesCom.
