If you propose to Frances Weetman using the RokShok ring case or equivalent made out of lolly sticks and rubber bands over Twitter and post the tweet here by the end of the month then you can post all the galaxy brained tepid takes from your twittersphere crushes to your heart's content for a minimum of the year 2020.

However to make it interesting, if anyone else ITT beats you to it (again on Twitter, don't stalk people irl ffs) then they get to choose between a full ban on all weetakes plus a 1mo probe for you, ThomasPaine, for historical weetcrimes, or clemency plus tWeets being allowed back into the thread.

It's not just a matter of speed though, we're doing this Wacky Races style, the more elaborate/amusing your phone ring holder the better.

(Also don't be gross, y'all know how to fake propose over twitter with something you made out of pipe cleaners and sellotape in response to a tweet about the existence of a really bad product and still be classy and not harassy, right?)

It's a metaphor for how even though we are all different people and come from different background and come in different shapes and sizes when we all group together and work as one we make a perfect and satisfying whole.

What's the issue with Lewis? He's talked a very left wing game, but also was part of a very select group that nominated Corbyn, served in his first cabinet, and didn't take part in the chicken coup. His big rebellion against the leadership was on the EU Article 50 vote- not anything to do with the socialist project.

You might not want him as leader because it's bad politics right now to have an unapologetic remainer in charge, but is there any reason to think he'll "Tack right"?

I'm using Three Home Broadband £22pm for one month now - NO LAND LINE NECESSARY. Requires decent 4G (and 5G available in a few areas though have read some problems with that one). Unlimited data.

It wasn't my original plan when I moved in November but after no joy from another provider (requiring a phone line put in) who kept messing my order about (ordered on 24th OCTOBER, still nothing by end of November), I ordered the Three hub on the Tuesday, router arrived on the Wednesday, I'm on line in under 30 minutes.

Just tested my speed and got 63.8Mbps down and 27.9Mbps up. I often get 80 Mbps down.

There were some issues with Three yesterday but was still able to get on with 30Mbps down. Otherwise it's been perfect performance since I got it a month ago.

Advantage is if you move again you just take it with you (obviously depending on you getting a 4G signal).
I picked the router with the 4 ethernet ports (obviously it is wifi too). There's a slightly more expensive offer with a router that has built in Alexa but only 1 ethernet port.

He was sacked as shadow defence secretary over Trident when Seumas Milne hosed with Labour's line on Trident without telling him. As an ex-TA officer he is unsurprisingly in favour of retaining Trident and if you think unilateral disarmament is important, this makes him politically suspect.

Tbf those same left-wing points apply to Starmer (nominated Corbyn in 2015, served in cabinet without leaking or couping). I'm interested to see what tack he takes during the election - Starmer has had alot of centrist hopes projected on him but not much evidence to back them up so far.

thespaceinvader
Mar 30, 2011

The slightest touch from a Gol-Shogeg will result in Instant Death!
The feeling I get from both Lewis and Starmer is that they're genuinely broad-church party-line types.

I.e. they both nominated Corbyn because they felt that everyone deserved a voice, rather than just saying they did, but they didn't actually want him to get it - but equally, that having got it, they were happy to follow what the party clearly wanted rather than Cantue-ing the tide.

What they would do as leader is therefore kind of inherently suspect, as to whether they would follow the membership, or the PLP - the former set the strategic line, but the latter set the twactical line much more, and have much mroe direct incfluence.

Lawson is a very strange fellow who often has very good takes but then just as regularly spirals into centrist handwringing. He's swallowed the 'electability' kool-aid hard.

Though there is something in all this. It's easy to do that because there just isn't a potential candidate this time round that possesses Corbyn's quiet (almost anti-) charisma, honesty, and outsider status which really won it for him. We've now got a significantly leftier field than last time on average (a victory in itself!), but no obvious standout. RLB is good policy wise, but seems too quiet and unconvincing, Lavery is a great scrapper and broadly Correct but that blackface photo and the NUM financial stuff are pretty significant skeletons in the closet, Lewis is I think considerably less left wing than we think and would tack right, similar story for thornberry. The others are all clearly some flavour of tepid centrism or outright blue labour types. I really hope the hustings make things clearer.

My dream, my nightmare

I'll say one thing for Starmer, out of all the centrists he seems like the only one (and the first one) to be trying to actively cater to the left membership, his campaign video centred momentum activists and young activists. If nothing else he's probably much less of an idiot and more of a serious politician than the ego maniacs like Phillips.

He came to talk to us when we were campaigning in Southampton. Seemed pretty OK - big fan of the manifesto, not a bad speaker. He got a bit overshadowed by Owen Jones but I don't think I mind him as a second choice / compromise candidate.
