It was especially dumb considering that there are several examples of where the doctor lets historical figures see thing things work out or get a glimpse of the future without erasing their memories. Why not let these two people keep the knowledge that what they are doing is worth it?

I do really want some audios of the Master living through the 20th and early 21st century, especially having to sit on the sidelines when stuff went down involving the Doctor and him. Not only was he there during the UNIT days, that means he was also around during the decades the Doctor (and Missy) were at the college. Also for Captain Jack's time on Earth. I wonder if he voted for Saxon?

As a jewish person watching this the only thing that struck me as off was the way she delivered "they'll see you as you REALLY are" when she removed the perception filter. That's what you say to the villain when you make their allies see them as the conniving evil person they are, not when you make racists see them as a person who appears to not be white - I mean the Master isn't even actually an Indian man, he's a Time Lord. (spoilered for more discussion of the holocaust than would normally happen in the space adventure thread) To my knowledge they wouldn't have sent him to a concentration camp anyway though, probably just a regular prison camp. They weren't systematically exterminating anyone other than roma and jews, even if they were persecuting/imprisoning other groups.

It's at least potentially possible that the script was foreshadowing what she does to the Master at the end of the episode. We're not in a position yet to tell whether that was better or worse than what she did to him in WW II.

I think you are confusing concentration camps and death camps. Death camps like Treblinka were where everyone was killed on arrival, they were for extermination only. Concentration camps were the “regular prison camps” for the Nazis. Auschwitz functioned as both, it was technically two camps. And they absolutely sent spies, political prisoners, regular criminals, and homosexuals to concentration camps, as well as Jews, Jehovahs witnesses, Freemasons, and Roma. (Horrifying fact- gay people weren’t exactly liberated from the concentration camps, they were moved to regular prisons and made to serve the remainder of their sentences). Noor from this episode was shot to death in Dachau concentration camp like a year after the episode takes place.

I doubt they took it into account but she encountered Ada Lovelace as the Fourth Doctor in the audios so she had to wipe her memory so as not to interfere with her own timeline.

I couldn't sleep last night so I spent lots of time looking at stupid Doctor Who opinions and videos on the internet. Fans seem to be split on the new Master, between 1. People that like him 2. People that don't like him 3. People that hate Whitaker and will take any excuse to poo poo on the show 4. People that hate Chibnall and will take any excuse to poo poo on the show 5. People who are upset that Missy's character development has been apparently rejected 6. People who are certain he must be a pre-Missy Master because she died permanently (lol) and also turned good permanently (lol) 7. Shippers who have resumed making Doctor/Master videos 8. Racists (high overlap with 2, 3 and 4)

I completely missed this was back until I saw an ad on a bus shelter. Wow, they actually came up with an enemy that was scary, rather than some alien with an ear where their nose should be and noses were their ears should be or something else goofy. Master was pretty good, though I'm wary of the meta plot of "Time Lords are actually evil!' because uh, yea we know that already. Maybe they can do something with it that's different, but its an fact that Rassilon and the rest raided time and space for power. Maybe Omega was a good guy after all? But drat didn't the crew look fine in their tuxes.

Dhawan's Master specifically feels different from Simm to me because... well, the actor is having just as much fun, but the Master sure as gently caress isn't. He's getting his kicks where he can find them, but he's mostly playing it straight in front of others. Gloating when he's winning, but not on the way there. Until something goes wrong, which he takes in stride way less than Simm or Gomez. Dhawan's Master spends most of part two of Spyfall fuckin' pissed that he has to go play damage control to stop things unravelling. And honestly I love it, he's the only villain I can remember who just seems really frustrated by the Doctor and her bullshit.
