I finally got to The Island which I assume is choo-choo train to endgame. But when I land I get an error when the game tries to save and it doesn't make a file.

A) Any fixes?

B) Is it feasible to just push through to the end? I can chunk in most of a day, if I know it's coming.

I played a bit and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. But had to lose the progress, obviously.

Also, high Motorics conflict resolution is messy.

Definitely. Jean-Luc especially is a man of great virtu with a dulcet accent. Racist lorry driver is so humpty-dumpy that it's a laugh riot just to look at his face. Garry is sadly annoying, but Lena thinks he tries to mean well, so who am I to show him contempt?

I don't have a fix, sorry, but yes, you can easily get through the final chapter in less than a day.

lots of background dice checks, narrative reactivity, making combat really count instead of preliminary focus, World of Darness having a lot of social skills which would really shine in a DE-like way of doing things...

...Like, in such a format, you could make some archetypes actually extremely engaging to play rather than "put points into strength and superpower of choice" and get a lot closer to the fun pen and paper elements of a game like Vampire the Masquerade (or Requiem) than the usual

In some ways, it's quite clever. Because from my experience the longer someone espouses racism the more they sound like a self-important moron.

The One True Oden

Measurehead is one of my favorite characters.

He's simultaneously a perfect send-up of "scientific" racists, and also has an intriguing implied backstory where he like bought in so hard to these theories and then turned them around to justify his own racial superiority over the people who invented racism. He represents the absolute best of fascism, which is to say that he can yell incoherent slogans really loudly and is also physically strong. But at the same time, his fascism is of such a weird, unique flavor that he actually hates all the other fascists you could meet in the game, and they hate him. Even the Racist Lorry Driver calls him a racist.

Rene and Racist Lorry Driver are both pathetic in obvious ways. Measurehead has the physical presence to demand respect, clearly built himself up from desperate circumstances, but is wasting it all on a bunch of complete and utter nonsense. It's the truly poisonous form of ideology, literally disfiguring his body based on bizarre lies invented to dehumanize him and people like him.

You can really dig into any corner of this game and come up with gold.

Failing a check can have consequences. Also, a lot of red checks you don't have to try right away, you can come back later when you have higher skills.

Gently enveloping the target with indiscriminate love.
Almost all Red Checks have failure paths that are as interesting as the success path. Some are even better.

The most extensive alternate path for the game is hidden behind the Red Check you are most tempted to reload: Authority at the Tribunal.

In retrospect there is only two checks in the whole game I would recommend reloading if you fail : Authority at the Church and Inland Empire at the Phasmid

The only place I actually intended to reload until I noticed how far back my last safe was, was when I accidentally gave away my best hat.

From their description it was less like random encounters and more like there were going to be more places you could gently caress up enough to start a fight or gunfight. I think they still would have been pre-planned encounters like the Tribunal.

What are some of the more useful/powerful thoughts? I was high-INT low-PSY in my playthrough and Wompty-dompty-dom center (Encyclopedia passives give XP and +2 real) was far and away the most useful, the rest were interesting in a 'okay let's see where this burnt-brain nonsense is going' kind of way but otherwise pretty meh.

Yeah, great example is right at the beginning, when you can try to sneak out when Garte starts talking about the money you owe. Failing the check is actually better for you.

Col Do Ma Ma Daqua gives you a massive perception boost in exchange for a piddly -1 to encyclopedia, and Cleaning Out the Rooms is just a +3 level boost with no downsides

White Mourning and The Bow Collector are also positive across the board, though the latter is easy to miss

Art Cop, COMMUNISM, and Derealization all give xp for various things. Art Cop you can get real early on if you're dedicated to it. Art Cop and Derealization will easily pay for themselves, and what are you even doing if you aren't a communist cop.

The commie cop one is kind of terrible, though. Considering the usage of a slot and that it gives -1 to two skills, you'd have to pick communist options 75 times before you'd break even.

Jamais Vu and 15th Indotribe are solid early available ones.

Apricot Scented Gum is nice. (+2 perception straight up when done)

Lonesome Long Road Home is nice once you've a source of speed.

Sometimes raising skill caps is really good. Googling found me a DE wiki with most of the thoughts having an okay amount of info.

Ugh, I opened the secret compartment of the ledger, dropped it and passed out.

I thought I got a game over so when I clicked BEGIN and it started replaying the opening scene, I got annoyed and quickly clicked through it at random, before the game continued normally. Did I miss anything in that scene or is it literally the same as the opening scene?
