judging from the twitter history, it's more "you're not any more radical than the Labour party is, at least insofar as you want to matter, so you anarchocommunists don't get to claim any leftier-than-thouness than we parliamentarians"

this argument has never convinced its intended audience, I suspect, but the question recurs whenever the parliamentary route to socialism suffers a setback

Easiest thing might be to go directly to your card issuer and get them to refund you since this is probably a protected purchase and dealing with the company will be a real pain.

The card issuer might want some proof that the company was at fault though so worth making at least some token efforts to contact them.

That's an interesting one, because as long as they didn't misrepresent what the ticket was legally I think they're in the clear. You *might* have a case for merchantability - after all it's impossible for you to actually use the ticket for its intended purpose - but that might be touch and go because if they're feeling scummy they could probably argue it could be used, and was being sold as, a souvenir or novelty.

However if it was bought online less than 14 days ago you do have an (almost) unconditional right to return it for a refund under the Consumer Contracts Regulations: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/consumer-rights-refunds-exchange/#buyingfromhome

Depends whether it's a credit or debit card purchase. Banks can recoup the cost of a debit card purchase from the merchant, but they need to see that you've reached the end of the road with them first.

I'm fairly sure a screenshot of the transaction date and a photo of the ticket itself would be enough to prove fault, unless there's something on the website that says 'novelty purchase only' etc.

Out of interest, where was it bought from? There are some resellers known to banks for being shady as gently caress with this sort of thing. (I think it was Viagogo who used to sell you the chance of being allocated a ticket if one is sold on to them - but you pay full price for it regardless).

Britain has condemned the arrest of the UK ambassador to Iran as a "flagrant violation of international law".

Rob Macaire was detained after attending a vigil for those who died when Iranian military shot down a passenger plane on Wednesday.

He left when it turned into a protest before being arrested and accused of helping to organise the demonstrations.

In a tweet, Mr Macaire denied taking part in protests and Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab condemned his arrest.

Mr Macaire said he was attending the vigil because it was "normal to want to pay respects", adding that some of the victims were British.

The ambassador added: "Arresting diplomats is of course illegal, in all countries."

Almost like breaking international law by drone striking the Chief of General Staff of a country might provoke that country to break international law to send a message in return.

I think 6 is the trap they caught Corbyn with.

Corbyn (not sure of the best way to word this) initially held off on signing the IHRA definition, because he wanted to add a clause saying that criticising Israel in the same way any other country would be criticised for doing racist things should still be allowed.

Although it's going to be a tough sell saying that arch-racist Corbyn was behind all the antisemitism, even the historical stuff by Ken Livingstone before he was leader; but also so is [insert leadership candidate here].

Also I'm sure they'll insist that the external board mentioned in #2 is them.
