Former Mindgeek employee here. Look them up.

Anyway, a lot of porn flicks in the past decade or so have really become "<normal title>: A Porn Parody", and NOT some witty title. Why?

SEO. If someone's looking to jack off to a Ghostbusters porn parody, it's easier (as it should be) for someone to think to type in "Ghostbusters porn parody" rather than try to remember "was it Goobusters? Or Nutbusters?"

Spoiler: It's both in this case: Nutbusters, from a while ago, and Ghostbusters: a XXX Porn Parody, when GB2016 came out. Nutbusters is better strictly due to the fact that Gianna Michaels was involved :colbert:

A guy I went to high school with works for Mindgeek in corporate sales or something.

I know this is probably advertising stuff but in my head I like to imagine it as selling bulk porn to companies.

I promise I won't derail this thread any further, but Mindgeek loving sucks.

To hell with them.

Edited to avoid litigation.

I know we've kind of moved on from The Rock talk, but I quite liked that in Fighting With My Family, most of the other trainee wrestlers with Vince Vaughn in the beginning are real wrestlers in the UK scene. Seemed like a nice touch to provide a minor boost to their careers instead of just using regular extras.

I only know this because one of them is my mate Rishi Ghosh:

One of the few modern comedies I enjoy is Game Night, which is pretty much carried entirely by Rachel McAdams.

The subtle(ish) part is, like a lot of modern comedy, it's essentially just an 80s script, except the gender roles are reversed so that the husband is boring and the wife is the one who seems to enjoy the craziness.

A subtle TV moment in that scene is all the porn parody titles you can see in the background. My favorite was "Tits Complicated"

Game Night caught me super off guard. I went in expecting to kill a Sunday afternoon with a run of the mill comedy, but I found myself laughing more than I had at a movie in forever.

Wrong thread, but I got Irrationally Irritated at the scene where they are trying to dig out a bullet from a gunshot wound on the forearm. I was just rolling my eyes and shaking my head, "In and out, he super lucky it didnt hit a bone but theres no way it would still be in there"

Then of course that was the joke and they noticed the exit wound and realized they had just been rooting around in his bullet wound for no reason.

Ready or Not killing the maids in increasingly ridiculous ways and the family just getting annoyed about it was a similar but much darker laugh.

Ready or Not loving ruled.

Iirc Christopher Plummer and the college girl got it right, the rest had various countries they lobbed out during their "Hey, your family's from (insert country here) right?" and then just steamrolled over whatever she was gonna say next.

I don't think that was me. I remember the thread but I don't think I posted much in it. The place I've provided the most info about my job is actually in the Howard Stern Show Megathread, circa approx 2015-2016.

This was me with Braveheart. I've personally held (an exact replica of) William Wallace's sword and that guy was loving BIG. I'm over six feet and I couldn't keep my balance swinging it around, there's no way Mel Gibson would even be able to lift it one handed.

Just watched the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie. It was pretty interesting. I appreciate that it had few jumpscares, it let the surreal imagery and bizarre creatures designs do the job. And the creatures were neat, practically the illustrations come to life. It also allowed for some humour like with the Jangly Man, who was still creepy as hell but had some funny moments simply from how he moved.

In the "Scotch Mist" episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Rick is chewed out for being a cheapskate - buying knockoff batteries that run out quickly instead of namebrand ones that you can depend on. Later on, in a throwaway line, you find out that a budget flight to Norway is what kicks off the character's motivation and the revenge plot of the episode.

NI MUERTE NI MIEDO
In Ad Astra, Brad Pitt's character is on the hunt for his father who has gone rogue, killed the crew of his ship at the outer edge of the solar system and is causing disasters that could end human life as a result of a sabotaged antimatter engine. Brad Pitt's character copies the data to take it back to Earth but before they can depart his father commits suicide because the cataracts in his eyes made it impossible for him to read any of the data in his obsessive search for life on other worlds. Brad Pitt's character has been shown to struggle with his own inability to read throughout the movie likely due to the absence of his father and had been the cause of strain on his marriage, not being able to open up about his illiteracy and accept help from his spouse.
