It's going to carry on being an absurdly overblown pile of bullshit that somehow tars every future Labour MP and leader with a brush that doesn't actually have any loving tar on it, whilst every rightwing party is completely ignored for constantly doing far worse and it's exhausting. It's all very well to suggest a strong, strident stance on the issue (i.e. it's an overblown mess with a tiny kernel of truth at the centre of it that we have worked and continue to work to remedy, but by and large, it's a smear campaign) but any time anyone expresses any viewpoint other than complete capitulation and contrition, it will be misreported as just them being straight-up hitler. I genuinely don't know how this is handle-able. Capitulation doesn't work, it's an admission of fault and setting up completely un-meetable standards that will be moved as soon as anyone gets close, combatting the accusations doesn't work, because it makes you look worse. So, what.

Has anyone seen 1917? Is it awful? I always reckoned there aren't enough modern large scale films about British experience of the world wars (no Spielberg), but Sam Mendez is pretty poo poo. Skyfall was a complete mess and had some horrible stuff in it, e.g. steamy sex scene where Bond figures out that the woman he's met in a casino is an ex-child prostitute and then surprises her by getting naked and walking into her shower without any consent from her...... yeah. But 1917 has good reviews and the way they've approached the filming of it seems interesting.

I thought 1917 was great, though I also think Skyfall is by far the best Bond film. It's the only one I can stomach because it is clearly critical of Bond - hence why he's a flat out rapist in that scene.
