My latest four. (Well, I say that. I've had the Shiro finished for a while :ssh: ).

I'm particularly happy with the Gunsmith's reflective armor and with the Jade Hawk's finish. It doesn't photograph well, but the Jade Hawk is using a color-shifting green paint that turns gold at certain angles.

That's an amazing job on the Gunsmith. Were you inspired by that one pic from the original Camospecs book? I think it was the Awesome that was drawn like that.

I've just been painting cockpits like that for a while, and I know the Gunsmith's got laser reflective armor.

It works pretty well as beach or desert camo too.

Painted my first figures. I just wanted to go for very simple color schemes, but do something different for each model. I like how each one turned out, except for maybe the orange one.

The one piece of advice I'd give is to spend a little more time on the cockpits and maybe to make them uniform across the mechs. Check out the CamoSpecs guys for a good tutorial on it, it's not as hard as you may think: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CO66C_FJa2o Even if you don't do the full blending like he does in the video, just adding a few lines in different gradients of color can make a big difference.

Seeing everyone's photos made me nostalgic, so here are some of my mechs. I have a few still unpainted, though surprisingly only a couple, and a few I decided not to take photos of because the paint jobs were ruined by a gloss spray that fogged when it dried.

There's no real rhyme or reason to why I painted models the way I did. Why is that little clan mech Captain America? Because I felt like it I guess. I think the red/grey/white scheme sort of became my default in the end, but it's still only a half dozen mechs and it's not consistently applied.

I painted most of these years ago and I am probably a better painter than I was at the time. Some of these were the first things I had painted since I was a kid, but overall I'm happy enough with them.

And now they are safely packed away for another four years....

Thank you! I am looking forward to painting the new mechs coming out in March. In the mean time I want to learn how to actually play Battletech. Just need to find the time to go through the 50 page manual that was included with these figures.

Thanks. White models are my, er, white whale. For whatever reason I keep attempting it and sometimes I pull it off and others it's a disaster. Here I think the paint is a little too thick, but yeah, otherwise it's fine.

Most KS's I've backed have required you to jump on during the initial funding phase to get access to the pledge manager - is this different?

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but I wouldn't count on Catalyst getting any of this KS stuff (minis, boxes, and so on) to retail any time soon--if at all. They have historically been awful at doing that. I bought into the Clan KS because I figured it would be my most-reasonable shot at actually getting good, official minis of the stuff I like.

I would love for them to improve, but I really recommend "staking out your ground" for em now just to be safe.

I missed this earlier.

Pretty much everything is intended for future retail. The Clan Invasion box that's provided to Kickstarter backers has an exclusive cover, but the contents will be the same. The dice pouch and one other thing that I can't recall off the top of my head is listed as KS exclusive as well; Catalyst has stated that they plan to bring the rest to retail, eventually.

A couple of retailers in Aus are already offering preorders for the Clan box, but I have no idea if the lance sets or salvage kits or whatever are going to make it.

Considering how ludicrously over funded the Kickstarter was there’s no excuse. :colbert:

March was the estimate for the contents of the first wave. But it was always stated to be a best-case scenario date, and the later stuff will all take more time beyond that.

I just finished another round of painting. First, some objective / salvage markers (five I made months ago, four I just finished, and six new ones I just started)!

Top Row (from left to right):
A decaying crab under a little tree, a BattleMaster's arm under a big tree, a dome-shaped building/science lab, an ancient 'Mech arm, a shipping container with the footprints of the Grasshopper that stole it

Middle Row:
A Shadow Hawk's severed leg, a buried Atlas, two little shipping containers, a Night Gyr's severed arm, a beached Dragon

Bottom Row:
A buried Blackjack, a car traveling down a dirt road, two cars parked at a dock (they could turn into a shipping container), a shipping container and a car sinking into a lake/swamp, and the rotting husk of a mostly-submerged Quickdraw

I also painted up a lance of House Davion's pet terrorists, the Swordsworn: a Jenner, Wolverine, Shadow Hawk, and Blackjack

And then did a Locust, Phoenix Hawk, Jenner, and Annihilator in colors I don't think anyone has ever seriously considered fielding in tabletop: Bannson's Raiders!

... I actually kinda like the way teal and tan work together, even if Bannson himself is a colossal jackass.

Are you crossing out the circles on your mech’s record sheet? I’m going to get mine laminated so I can use a dry erase marker to do it and have them be reusable.

Speaking from my own meager experience here, but you definitely want to use wet-erase markers. "Oh, this is so neat", he said, shuffling through the sheets for one side and inadvertently erasing several random wounds in the process.

I do this for alpha strike, at least for my player group. Any 'Mech they kill and keep gets laminated.

They're still happiest with the pirate Locust they convinced to join them after killing all of the Locust's friends, he's put in work for them. For a while, they were just using him as a "Eh, we got him free, who cares if he dies?" and now it's "Which disproportionately large enemy 'Mech will he solo kill this time?"

Personally I use paper sheets and just slip them into page protectors. Cheaper than laminating them and works just as well. Also that way I can use my work printer to print all the mechs.

One of the stretch goals for their kickstarter was looking into creating an official BattleTech 'Mech tracking app, so here's hoping.

Even if it just turns out to be a ToHit calculator or a diceroller that does missile table results it'd be helpful.

Well, the first scenario of my narrative campaign for the year went pretty drat well. My 3 players (I played OPFOR, the Kell Hounds) won with overwhelming force, razed four buildings full of civilian researchers to the ground, and inadvertently launched a nuclear missile that destroyed the main planetary defense grid satellite, so Clan Smoke Jaguar could initiate a planetary invasion. The Hatchetman piloted by "Vladia bin Kareef" managed to brutalize a Flea so hard she's now nicknamed "Hatchetwoman."

That's not even the best part! The last remaining Kell Hounds merc in a Firestarter, realizing he was surrounded on all sides, ran and jumped feet first into the bottom of a recently emptied ballistic missile silo. Of course, his jump-jets mis-fired, and he completely ate poo poo on landing, shattering every limb in his body. Thankfully, the surviving research engineers were able to salvage his body and are saving his mercenary career by outfitting him with experimental military grade prosthesis.

Not to mention the falling debris from the satellite explosion initiated Meteor Shower rules, which sadly only fell and landed inside one building, turning a prominent geothermal research engineer into a fleshy red paste. I'm sure none of this will come back to haunt this mercenary lance as they align themselves with the Federated Commonwealth as they try to hold the line against Clan Smoke Jaguar's incursion.

In other news, I found myself adding "An Act of God" to the pilot roster/scorecard. "God" now has +2 XP, with 1 kill and having crippled 1 Mechwarrior. Next scenario is a convoy escort through hostile territory stacked with half a dozen unidentified "radar contacts," where I have developed a 1D6 table to decide what spawns in - Nothing, Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault.

Should be very exciting!
