Darrell-Lea experimented with flavours based on iconic Aussie experiences and hosed up with some really bad timing by releasing a "harbour fireworks" flavour right when we had record-breaking bushfires and everyone was calling for the Sydney harbour fireworks to be cancelled

Also everyone thought it was a dumb try-hard idea anyway, and if there's anything we hate in Australia it's tryhards. :v:

Cadbury released something similar that was their chocolate with Kettles salted chips mixed for a while. It was actually pretty decent, the chips cut the sweetness of the chocolate quite nicely. I'd actually buy it again if it came back.

Sweet, salty, and sour form a triangle where they all pair well with each other (I guess some people don't like salty and sour but salt & vinegar chips are great to me). Someone should make a sweet, salty, and sour snack and see how that goes.

I'm not usually a salty and sour person, but ditto the S&V love.

Even better is getting fish and chips and putting fresh lemon juice on them.

Lumpia (fried Filipino spring rolls ) is tasty, but dipping it in suka (a vinegar-based dipping sauce) brings it to another level.

For a funny picture, I present the definition of suka.

I recommend making sure you specify which suka you want when ordering it at a restaurant.

I think part of why the Mad Max movies resonated so well is that even modern Australian English is easy to sell as some weird post-apocalyptic dialect.

You got a source for that? My understanding is that the sour component is due to the acid.

It's 100% not salt at all, it's acid and sugar. Not sure why you would claim it was salt.
