A real WWI story needs to be entirely about pointless death and cruelty inflicted on your own allies. So have the colonel order a squad to relay the vital message since the wires got broken, but then some rear echelon psycho arrests them and accuses them of deserting. The protagonists are about to be firing squadded, but get saved by German infiltrators who snipe the officer etc. Just a series of random and pointless events, and when they eventually get to the destination the general reveals that the 1500 casualties were part of the plan, since there is no other way to exhaust German munitions otherwise. They could steal a train at some point, that would be cool. While you're at it make my Wonder Woman adaptation where she fights for the Ottomans, because she only considers autocratic monarchies valid and the British tried to colonize her island.

They all think that Picard is going to suck because Patrick Stewart is a socialist who wants to stay in the EU and because "woke" media is too preachy and continuity errors. I think Picard will likely suck for the same reasons you do, but I can't find any youtube channels that agree with me. I don't have any wider point except that this is depressing.

i only just realized that picard is supposed to be a sequel story to next generation or more specifically nemesis and the events referenced in the jj abrams time travel reboot i had been assuming it was a prequel series the apparent complete unwillingness of anyone to explain what the plot of this show is going to be beyond that extremely bare bones background when its coming out in a week is not exactly setting off my optimism detector

So they send back a runner. He goes through all sorts of convoluted war adventures but gets back to HQ and gets his message in just a little too late. The end of the movie is our hero on a faraway hill watching his mates get blown up by high explosive in a horrible mistake. He's helpless, the system is helpless, his friends are helpless, and no one is really at fault. Also he's perversely happy because by chance he's somehow alive when they're all dead. War is just hosed up like that.

Their request was granted. Accompanied by two of my signal men, I now took my station on the roof of the highest house to watch the fight between the two cruisers. As a whole, the Englishmen showed little interest in the conflict that was going on but a few thousand meters distant from the island. Other matters seemed to claim their attention. With an ingratiating smile one of them stepped up to our officers, who were head over ears in work down on the beach, and asked: “Do you play tennis?” It was an invitation which, under the circumstances, we felt compelled to decline.

yeah thats a really big shift in how world war i is presented now and i dont like it at all time was it was the go to example of a war that was one hundred percent preventable and tragic for that reason alone regardless of whatever horrific stuff we saw onscreen these days its just a stand in for war in general and how its just an innate part of the human condition and its extremely irritating to anyone with a basic understanding of the factors that actually caused it still cant decide whether this trend was started with battlefield 1 or wonder woman but feel free to horrify me with earlier examples if you can think of any
