Wortenia Senki has revealed the reason the protagonist is a brick shithouse 15 year old japanese kid is that his grandfather got isekai'd and made it back, then his parents got isekai'd and didn't make it back, so it's a family tradition now.

I was just picking any series that had weapons turned humans. But Tsugumomo has an isekai arc and there's a lot of sexual tension between the MC and his increasing harem of tsukumogami. Entire series is softcore porn, and lots of fanservice. And I mean a lot of fanservice, the writer is on record stating he wants to lewd every single female character in his series. So that should count. some objectionable stuff like a 1000yo loli so just putting that up front. There is Nukenai Seiken-chan Which is about a guy who is traveling around with the holy sword For the non fucky ones There's series like Soul Eater and Elemental Gelade. Revolutionary Girl Utena kind of counts and there's a couple I've lost to memory, but one was about a guy who finds an antique shop that's connected to a reality where the souls of objects reside. I'll try and find the name because it was interesting. Edit: Valkyrie Drive is a thing. I haven't watched it but it's chicks dating gun girls. Tsugumomo is such a shame since the artist is quite good at doing action sequences, but it very quickly turned into extremely creepy porn.

I clicked into it cuz the art looks so dang good. I even hung around for a minute just because I'm so desensitized to creepy af manga. But it quickly goes from normal level creepy to ultra level creepy and just stays there if the latest chapters are any indication.

So, this is something Amazon recommended me and given the algorithm I figured it'd be poo poo, but it's surprisingly fine. The only reason I'm mentioning it here instead of the other isekai thread is that it gets dark (cartoonishly, but it is an author's first work). Her Majesty's Swarm From the synopsis: quote:Our protagonist is a college student who enjoys playing as the evil-aligned faction Arachnea in her favorite real-time strategy game. One day, she finds herself in a world similar to the one in the game; additionally, her body is now that of a fourteen-year-old girl. While things are a bit different from how they were in the game, one element has remained the same: she is the leader of the Arachnea. The insects under her control, collectively known as the Swarm, praise her and implore her to lead them to victory. The de-aging bit was a red flag, but I decided to give it a go anyways thanks to the cover: It's not often a setup like this comes by and they don't set the cover up to pull in horny folks, so I decided to give in to my curiosity. Some interesting stuff that makes me look forward to more: her ongoing struggle against being lost in the hivemind of the Swarm, a couple of the side characters (especially after reading the preview chapter of the second volume), and there's something behind this world the MC finds herself in. The unfortunate stuff: the nearby kingdom is comically bigoted and blinded by their devotion to the God of Light as a setup to make the complete and total annihilation of everyone in the kingdom, soldier, civilian and otherwise, barely palatable, and almost everyone outside the MC's circle is just a one-note character. With the setup the second volume has in it's first chapter I'm hopeful those negatives are less of a thing, and if so I'm interested in seeing what's going to happen going forward.

Oh, no, she does save some them and their village, and at the end mostly gives them their independence, aside from being around for diplomacy stuff because there's an Empire on the other side of the forest and it wouldn't do for them to try and coerce the Elves into going against her. It's the Kingdom that is eradicated, and they'd never consider Elves anything more than slaves at best.

i read one wn for quite a while, because i thought it was funny how it would constantly transcribe stat blocks from a d&d monster manual for no particular reason. this was its only redeeming trait. but naturally, the mc then acquired some slaves. oh, but it wasn't girls with animal ears who worshipped their owner like a god because he did the bare minimum in keeping them healthy. no, he got a bunch of slaves, crammed them into the hold of a ship so he could develop a tropical island plantation. when some tried to run, he crucified them. most of the description of that event was composed of a bizarre explanation of how crucifying people in a certain way creates vengeful ghosts, so he wouldn't do it that way. so, uh, dropped. jesus loving christ, abyss domination.

The only way evil churches could start being "cliche" and "overdone" is if actual, real churches stopped being actually evil in actuality.

So its just standard tier magical realism~ I'm talking about the cartoonish levels of evil that is commonly and frequently depicted in the kind of stories that we're ragging on which seems largely rooted in how things played out a couple centuries ago. It's become a tired cliche for the church in any and most media to be corrupt and in enough power to replicate actual witch trials and crusades against whatever group the story wants to dunk on. And don't tell me it's not lazy either. I'm still miffed that the netflix Castlevania series Completely overplayed Lisa's death and introduced a bishop character who is so clearly and unironically evil that my eyes nearly rolled out of their socket. Lisa's death was never portrayed as anything other than collateral damage thanks to once again, real life events, but from what I understand one of the writers has a habit of playing the churches actions up in this way and it wound up adding to the list of dumb things that series did with the narrative. Like I'm not Catholic but it's been in too much stuff not to get tired of it. quote:Gonna rag on his dark materials next?

An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride (MangaDex)(Novel Updates)(J-Novel Club) also subverts this. (This involves knowledge beyond what has been shown in just the manga so far): The church is originally shown to be hated by sorcerers because the church indiscriminately slaughters them and is always said to be fanatical in their beliefs that all sorcerers must die. The MC sees this as a threat to the people he cares about and other sorcerers are always flabbergasted that he isn't just straight out merc'ing every church knight he sees like other sorcerer's do. However, as the series progresses, you learn that sorcerers are actually all quite evil (as the MC often points out) and pretty much all the problems in the world spanning back hundreds of years are because of sorcerers. As the MC interacts with church members, you start to realize that the church, despite its flaws, is pretty much the only bastion of good left in the world and is constantly fighting, and dying, to protect people from the sociopathic sorcerers.
