Speaking of job stuff, anyone know any online coding courses that are reputable enough to put on a CV? I'm job-hunting, and people want some knowledge of HTML and CSS, but learning them in a classroom is an absolute pain.

Ian Murray spent more or less all of the last 4 years criticising the Labour Party, rather than, you know, the actual parties of government in Scotland and the UK, on just about every issue. And don't mistake "criticism" for its constructive sense, it was pure knee jerk contrarianism all the way He's also, allegedly (and these allegations come second hand from people who have reason to dislike him, so take with some scepticism), a pervy gently caress when it comes to young women in his clp/office Also, for what it's worth, other MPs thought he was a oval office too

When you say broken, are they things that can just be repaired instead? The phone screen should be replaceable at least.

# ? Jan 16, 2020 09:32 |

Yeah if I don't have a free upgrade I'll pay for a repair on the phone instead but that's still more than a free upgrade would cost. With the laptop I spilt a little bit of coke on the keyboard and a bunch of buttons have already stopped working so I think it's safe to say it's trashed.

Shitloads of paper towels, put the laptop upside down on the edge of a table so the keyboard presses on to the towel, give it an hour or two and see. Then if it works, you get all the fun of pinging the keys off with a flathead screwdriver and cleaning it off with cleaning wipes!

The EU subsidies that the government are between one and three years behind in actually giving out? THOSE subsidies? When I was working for a local wildlife trust the government owed us like 300k in back-dated EU subsidies. But it's super important to make sure no one individual is claiming like, £100 a month extra tho

If have a wistful longing for the days of Blair and want to live out the timeline where Yvette Cooper won in 2015, vote Phillips/Murray. On the sexual misconduct allegations: being a very active member of the part in Edinburgh (though not Southern), I've not heard anything like that. Not that I would be a part of any whisper network, but it hasn't come up even from people who would want to smear him, in contexts where they'd want to smear him, and who would plausibly be included. What I did hear, once, several years ago, is that he's regarded as some as a... stud? Sex symbol? By Labour Students/young spad types. Something about them talking up the size of his dick? I don't really remember the details at this point but it might have been the same thing getting garbled in transmission.

Also, yes the amount of ridiculous control hoops I had to jump through when I was running a fairly big nature project over here were insane. Never sent so much useless paperwork around. Though, gotta say, I was amazed that when they sent letters with questions it did seem like they read every last scrap of it. Quick thought: we might wanna do a Podcasting is Praxis episode on food & farming, would you be up for contributing to that?

Yeah this can't be stated enough, you're never going to win over an ideological enemy through sheer earnestness. That said like most speeches of this type the intended audience isn't the government benches but the people who watch the video on twitter. God I hope labour gets better at actual effective skulduggery, corbyn was too pure for this world and I really think we could do with a max intrigue character not afraid to literally intimidate, blackmail, bribe, trick, coerce, and generally use whatever underhand method necessary to gently caress over the tories at every opportunity. Probably not the leader - you want a charismatic 'good guy' for that (or at least someone who appears clean), but definitely a deputy. Yeah, what I'm saying is the labour party should form a cheka I guess. thespaceinvader posted:It means queen, so I'm sure it does but it also sounds like a character from dora the explorer so ThomasPaine fucked around with this message at 11:00 on Jan 16, 2020 |
