Dr. Garbanzo posted:So far we’ve managed to rack up 45 mm of rain based on the rain gauge out the back. It’s annoying that the auto weather station is showing like 9mm instead. Thankfully Katoomba has one that gets checked at 9am which had a decent amount of rain in the gauge. edit: what was the reading for 8:45 ? Hollow Knight is in that set, a game that is worth the price of admission all by itself if you haven't checked it out yet. Great bundle, tossed most of my purchase at WIRES.

Cable Guy posted:If that 9mm one is from the BOM site, I think they get measured as rainfall since 9am and are updated quarter-hourly. That might be 9mm in half an hour given the timing of your post... which is quite a bit. Nah it counts the total adding a new amount every 30 minutes. The weather station is located on the top of a ridge between Blackheath and Mount Victoria and is where the mountains weather is officially measured. The one at Katoomba is only checked once a day by a person because it isnt an automatic weather station. Its also the better one to go off for long term averages because its readings go back to 1885 compared to 1980s ish for the other one.

Hollow Knight is a AAA game accidentally made by an indie studio in Adelaide. Relatively hard game though.

Most of (all?) Those games are Australian. Bought it, even if i own a couple already. Sorry wires, money is going to the other two since they're getting less advertising/references.

Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania with heaps of character. Crawl is a four-player RPG where one player controls the adventurer and the other three control the monsters and traps of the dungeon, trying to kill the adventurer and take their place. Satellite Reign is a spiritual successor to Syndicate - the lead programmer was the producer for the original Syndicate Wars.

We went up to the Reptile Park just before christmas, great place but I have to tell you those aren't Alligators. It's far, far worse because those are Saltwater Crocodiles a.k.a australian murder machines.

Does that mean there are Crocodiles on the loose in Gosford, terrifying the local bogans?

It could probably fit 4 of me inside with space left for dessert.

Actually it's probably a freshwater croc as it's inland so they'll have fresh water in the lake but they are still pretty murderous. Thinking about it they have american alligators there too, so hopefully that was the alligators getting the broom!

Why would the Australian media call the big crocodile-looking reptile an alligator if they didn't get told by the zookeepers that yes, this is not the common Aussie croc, it's a seppo gator mate, trying to do a bloody runner so grab a broom yeah? I think it's pretty safe to assume those are alligators.

Presumably they swam over. Read an article about the flood and it was the alligators getting the broom, so Gosford is safe from marauding crocs and alligators both.

Fun fact, the Australian Reptile Park is where they gather the venom from native snakes and spiders by breeding and milking them so they can send the venom to the labs to be made into antivenoms. They ask you to send any Sydney Funnelwebs you find to them so that they can add them to the programme as they need more. They mainly focus on Aussie wildlife and reptiles but they do have quite a few reptiles from other countries too.

Hey, might be worth talking to a migration agent, or perhaps even a migration lawyer. There's people whose literal job is to figure out how you can legally stay in the country for the longest possible time (ie, ideally permanently).

My neighbour and myself are having rain beers. Just sitting in the backyard on camp chairs drinking beers soaking in the rain whilst the kids and dogs make a mess of the yard in mud. Simple delights.
