I think the Japanese Idea Factory website or recruitment page actually has a line about them having a 60/40% gender gap in employees and trying to reduce it.
I've always wondered about their turnover and work environment given how often they appear to be hiring though.

They do make a shitton of otome games too, and those games historically have female dev teams. Like the otome game division at Koei-Tecmo only started even hiring men in like 2011, it started as an intentionally female only division.

It's better in every conceivable way than the first game. One of the best SMT games ever.

Characters, music, alignment choices, mechanics - it is dam near perfect.

DeSu1 did a better job of escalating the stakes and making the situation seem increasingly dangerous and hopeless, but it came at the price of the pacing being pretty dire and there's a lot of repetitive dialogue (how many variants of "oh no we're all doomed we have to get out of here, what should we do? -> Break the Barricade "We can't break the barricade or else!"), and frankly it sucked that half the characters wouldn't join you until the final day.

DeSu2 is much better at establishing causality with your actions, and the characters are written to be likable in a way that the ones in DeSu1 aren't. I don't really care for how the alignment stuff plays out, but given how SMT4 ended up I think I should count my blessings.

I thought after the alternative worlds the game was going to go in a different direction with the usual alignment plot that with Jonathan willfully destroying Pluto and Walter helping Akira set a law system in infernal Tokyo but NOPE, the moment they are back in Tokyo they apparently forget everything and the story goes as you can predict just from looking at the game cover.

Tthis. I can rave all day about DeSu 2's characters - including Fumi - but I forget he exists because he is the one blemish on an otherwise superlative cast.

Shoulda let the fucker die. Nobody would miss him. Instead Jungo died on me in my first run.

I think in my next run I'm gonna try to use characters I neglected last time like Otome. Otome is great but she joined so late I already had my faves so she was kinda just late to the party ya know. But she's great just like everybody else and I'd like to have her in my party next time.

My final party last time was Yamato, Fumi and Airi. Fumi is all about go big or go home, though. You can't dump everything into Mag in this game! Some genius.

Keita is the fuckin worst and even though I’m a bit of a completionist I never care if he dies.

I’ve actually never used Otome other than like the one fight where you have to (with Makoto who I also never use) but she seems cool. I can never not have Jungo and Joe in my party though and I guess Otome is kind of similar to Joe so it might be a waste of a party slot!

Top FATE system moments:
1. Jungo Cat
2. Otome's daughter walking through the chaotic, demon infested streets to the secret underground government bunker Otome works in. only to be scolded by Otome and told to go back home and wait for her until she gets off work.
3. Hinako showing up in basically everyone else's FATE scenes to be like "maybe you should spend less time moping about your personal issues and more time focusing on protecting civilians from demons during this mass crisis, which is literally our job"

I never finished my playthrough on the Wii U, even though I made it pretty drat far into the game. I kept running into a glitch where I'd go to read the characters' profiles when they updated after plot segments, and the game would freeze up. So I eventually just stopped playing.

Restarting from scratch on the Switch version, and god, did I miss these dorks. :unsmith:

omg how is this a option? everyone should wear glasses all the time just as the devs intended the game to be played.

You know, I was thinking of buying Three Houses, because Byleth's reveal for Smash actually did get me kinda itching to play the game. Fire Emblem is sorta my big weird gap for Nintendo franchises, because other than not getting far into one of the GBA games (I was the classic 'lost all will to play after one of my favorite units died') I've never played them.

Why is this change specifically also swaying me into buying Tokyo Mirage Sessions?

You're confusing this game with Persona 4.

Kind of want to finally try this one now that it is out on the Switch but...
Out of the Atlus games I've never played, it's a hard choice trying to decide whether Tokyo Mirage Sessions or Catherine would be more embarrassing for my wife to walk in on me playing.

It's really weird to me that Atlus made their own knockoff Persona game in the vein of stuff like Mind Zero, instead of just explicitly making it a Persona game where all the Personas are based on Fire Emblem characters for some reason. It certainly wouldn't have been the weirdest game connected with the series. Literally the only reason I can think why they didn't do it is that the game was originally announced as SMT x Fire emblem instead of Persona x Fire Emblem.

FE3H is a very long game and this game seems less long/tedious. I mean, I liked FE3H but so many moments where the writing let me down due to reasons.

I'm not interested in Jpop/idols but it looks to be a calming game just from previews. FE3H is the only FE I completed so...

Pretty much this.

What I really appreciate most about it is that it is unashamed and unironic. It wants to tell a bright poppy story about creativity and the power of entertainment with a massive dose of Friendship and it goes all-in. It's a real relief to have a lighthearted JRPG whose entire basis doesn't end up being parody/jokes. I can't say it's particularly original in terms of story or characters but the characters it has are well-executed and it does way better with Social Media than Persona 5 did.
