What about the culture and legal system here in America makes you think that women aren't to be believed when things like this happen and they talk about it?

One thing I’d like to point out is that for people like Michael Sinterniklaas the con scene is absolutely still work. The majority of the money that he makes voicing these characters is from signing autographs, meet & greets, taking pictures, and doing panels and getting paid cash for every one of those interactions, that’s how cons work and that’s how these people pay their bills and buy nice things.

I don’t know anything about the ins-and
-outs of Midna’s personal cosplay environment but I do know how cosplaying works in anime and MtG fandoms and it’s basically the same thing, you just keep going to cons and grinding cons until your artwork gets picked up or sponsored by whatever company it is the reps or you develop a fan base big enough that you can support yourself on Patreon subs like Jessica Nigri.

So yeah this very much affects their work environment.

There are ways to commit character assassination that don't involve admitting someone else has video of you having sex. That's not only a verifiable claim, it gives bad-actor fanboys a reason to go looking for it. (I doubt Michael Sinterklaas has grade-A security.) That means she's significantly more at risk of having someone find it and upload it to Pornhub than she would be by staying silent.

Some people will definitely care; obsessive internet fans flip the gently caress out over any minor changes to anything they like and are also the loudest and most annoying group.

The question is "should the creators care what the obsessive internet dorks think?" and the answer is "no, not if the voice actor has done very bad things that warrants replacing him".

Also, Trace Beaulieu, duh.

Eh, for normal women I would agree. The woman in question seems to be from the little I have been able to see sex positive and openly promotes using her body for publicity and/or money. Not saying that is a bad thing in the least but I don't think she would be in as bad of a place as let's say your neighbor or co-worker.

Honestly it reeks of they had a messy break up and she is trying to get back at him while getting attention. At best it is a non-story at worst he is a lovely partner and has a kink.

Jesus loving Christ I said the exact loving opposite of that but I knew that someone would come back with that response.

I said nothing about her lying. I will take her at her word that what she said happened did for now.

But I am also not naive enough to take any side of a former lover’s quarrel as 100% gospel. Pretty much everyone has had some sort of experienced a scorned ex and messy break ups can cause both sides to be lovely people and do lovely things to each other.

Slow your roll on the outrage.

Listen I could argue with you about this but it isn’t worth it. You obviously have an axe to grind with the subject and nothing I can ever say will ever change your mind or be good enough to satisfy you.

Then I'm genuinely curious what you thought you were stating. Your post said that the consequences of being in an abusive relationship and having sex tapes made without your consent and potentially released to the public affect her less than "normal women", and that "she is trying to get back at him while getting attention". What does this mean, except exactly what you've been called out on?

Like even if she is sex-positive and offers services that folks are willing to pay money for. It does not make it any less abhorrent that he violated trust and consent in a romantic and sexual relationship; nor should you automatically distrust someone because they're a "slut".

If you don't want to take sides, or you want to wait until more details come out, you don't have to poo poo over someone attempting to protect other vulnerable women from a potential predator.

Publicly calling out the main character of a decade old cult classic hit like The Venture Bros. means this woman is inviting the absolute worst and most malicious members of the fandom to slander her, slut shame her, call her a whore and jezebel and temptress and scorned lover, and has to potential to totally jettison her career and potentially her health and physical safety.

I'm just saying that you're accusing a woman of intentionally destroying her own life and her own career for virtually no benefit if you think she's just doing to get back at him. Her DMs are going to be flooded with men making fun of her body and doxxing her and posting pictures of her apartment and her dog and threatening her, becuase thats what angry cartoon nerds do on the internet to feel like tough guys, especially in #MeToo situations.

Not dragging anyone or accusing anyone of anything, but please sincerely consider that this is not a safe shot for her to make and then comfortably bide her time. If anything comes of this she will get flak for it.

No. There was a prank of sorts on the Season 1 DVD. (I think it was Season 1.) The idea was that there was a hidden extra feature you could activate and watch a trailer or some other content related to a live-action Venture Bros adaptation that was totally in the works. Of course, I went over every screen, followed every single option, and tried to find any hidden link or selection that would let me see this content. Problem is, it doesn't exist. The joke is on you for looking for it. The closest you can get is finding little interviews that feature Doc and Jackson (and maybe Urbaniak?) superimposed over a stock background from the show. I think they might be in costume too; I haven't seen it in years. And I'm 65% sure this was the Season 1 DVD, but it might have been Season 2.

For what it's worth, I would not hire Warburton for Brock. Yeah, he's got the voice, but to me, you need a guy like John Cena or The "Dwayne Johnson" Rock to be a huge, muscle-bound, occasionally aloof murderer of men ("... murderer of hench-men!"). And I'm not sure Johnson Rock can play a blond-haired, buttercream-frosted murdercake of Swedish heritage.

It occasionally pops up online. I'm sure Dailymotion or some other sketchy site has them up. IIRC, it's about 20 minutes of them loving around doing improvised bits and in-character interviews in bad cosplay. It's cute but whatever is in your head is probably better than reality. I think it was a Dr. Girlfriend/Monarch one, a Doc/Samson one, and a 21/24 one.

Weren't those used for commercials? Odd that you can't find them online.

Did find this tho, which is just the best: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fAxSxaqaCL0

Also, here's some info from someone at that thing they did last weekend from the reddit. Someone else mentioned that Publick is more skeptical on a season 9 with Mike Lazzo retiring, which would make sense. Wonder if knowing that as they write S8 we'll get a sendoff season?

quote:

There were a LOT more people there than I expected. 50 maybe? Maybe more?

James Urbaniak did not show, as he had a last minute conflict with a TV show he's in.

2019 was a "lovely year" due to problems with "capital" (which I interpreted as funding, but JP didn't go into detail) and Doc's health issues. He did say that Doc "had" health issues - e.g. past tense - but again, he didn't get into it.

Dana Snyder appeared to be feeling no pain and was rambling, but he was funny so no one seemed to mind too much. Hal Lublin at a couple points kind of kept the whole panel on track.
They are just writing Season 8 now and it sounded like they are still in the very early stages. I asked specifically if he thought we would see Season 8 in 2021 or 2022 and he responded that it's possible it could get done by late 2021, but that sounded like a best case scenario.
Michael Sinternikklass is hilarious. He did a spot on impression of Brock which was kind of shocking.
If JP is to be believed, even they don't know who "Scare Bear" really is.
There are currently no agreements in place for a Season 9.
Everyone on stage really seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves and each other.
