I want to be a stay at home dad without the dad part. I pretty much just want to stay at home, working is dull.

I also used to get all old man about no headphone jacks but I got some bluetooth earbuds for £20 a while back and would not go back to wired ones. Also probably works out cheaper since wired ones always die on me after a couple months. Yes, having to waste phone battery on having Bluetooth on & having to remember to charge up my headphones which don't have a nice long cable to keep them attached to my device so they don't get lost, great thing. Never mind the cost of the things relative to the decent enough earbuds you can get which you won't lose instantly.

Having Sanders in the White House with BoJo as PM is the ultimate chaos timeline and I have no idea how BoJo would handle that. It's obviously never happening though.

If any US politician can beat Trump it's Sanders tbh, the big hurdle is getting the democratic nomination. I think he'd have a good chance in the election itself.

I used to be exactly like you until the headphone jack on my old Experia Z1C (still the best non-Nokia phone, compared to the standards of the time, I've ever had) failed, as any headphone jack eventually will because of the mechanical stress on it. I could either buy a new phone, spend 50 quid on a fix for the socket that even the repairer said had a fair chance of bricking the phone because of the trickiness of desoldering the old socket, or spend 15 quid on an (alas now discontinued) first-gen MPOW Magneto and never looked back. Your phone uses less charge running the Bluetooth radio than the audio amplifier to power your headphones, and Anker/MPOW/random not-bad Chinese Bluetooth headphones cost like 20 quid, have a cord between them so you don't lose them, and will run for ~8 hours between half-hour charges. Pick the right ones and they're even magnetic making them harder to lose than conventional ones - alas none of them now seem to have the trick of the original Magnetos where sticking them together paused the audio.

The working class (especially those of migrant or BAME origins) were the last to lose the extended family to the nuclear family that everyone pretends epitomized the 50s, and the only reason people think otherwise is that they get their view of what the 50s was (even the British 50s, which were as likely to be something like this as a modern prefab) from Leave It To Beaver or some other barely remembered white Americana.
