I'm sure Republicans are going to be super pleased when, god willing, whenever we get a Democrat president back in office, they have no reason not to sleaze it up and manipulate foreign governments to help rig elections, since that's exactly what they're saying is okay here with Trump.

Oh, wait. They'd say Dems rigged the election no matter what anyway. So who cares at this point. :unsmith:

I just can't believe these people can look at facts presented so clearly and just say that nothing is wrong-- under oath, no less. They're all a bunch of mongrels so desperately eager to slurp the fairway grass off Trump's shoes like the good little puppies they are, no matter how complicit it makes them in his crimes.

They will turn around and impeach him/her immediately for the exact same thing. Dozens of them are on record taking diametrically opposed positions against Clinton. They do not care one bit and are perfect embodiments of doublethink.

If I had a choice, I'd let Hunter Biden testify because I think the republicans are bluffing. Call their bluff and let them call Hunter Biden. What the hell are they going to get out of it? I think the republicans want Biden to not testify because then they can use it politically. If you call him, what can he possibly say? There is no evidence that Hunter was guilty for anything but nepotism. Then he can just point to all the Trump kids. Worst case scenario is they prove Hunter got his job because his daddy was VP. Well, big loving deal. If they can even manage to do that. What does it matter? Neither Joe or Hunter Biden are on trial. It doesn't really help Trump's case. At best it gets negative attention on Biden which, in my view, is a win/win.

They've already used Hunter Biden like that and they'll continue to use him like that. You cannot say that an action shouldn't be taken because republicans are going to continue doing what they're going to do anyway (a lesson that the democrats desperately need to learn in general). There is nothing lost by letting the republicans wave their insane conspiracy theories around and a decent gain in getting people who already have paper trails about their involvement in the crimes tell the American public about the crimes.

They start each day with the SaA saying that the senators have to remain silent on pain of imprisonments, so Schiff was making a chuckle that it’s rare house members can get the silent attention of senators, so the threat of prison helps with that

Yes there is something lost, you're giving their insane conspiracy theories more air time on legitimate news networks. Yeah they're going to do whatever the gently caress they want on Fox and the rest of the echosphere but there is no reason to concede any ground to them. Particularly since there is no negotiation and if the Republicans really wanted to call Biden or son in they can do so with zero input or support from the Democrats. Making any kind of "Deal" with them would only lend legitimacy to their lunacy and the Democrats should not do that.

In the end this whole process is about getting the Republicans to show their asses and demonstrate to the public in no uncertain terms exactly who they are, then we just have to hope that enough of the public cares to do something about it.

What would the point to them being witnesses even be? I honestly don't know much about how court cases/trials/etc work but it sounds like they'd just be there for the republicans to be like "See! Those people ARE bad!" And even if that was 100% true and it comes out that the whistleblower and Schiff colluded, it wouldn't excuse Trump for what he's being impeached for. So I really don't understand what the point of them being witnesses is. I say let them go because I feel like most of what the republicans would ask wouldn't be relevant the fact that Trump abused his power and obstructed congress. The fact that those are two things he's being impeached for was a pretty smart move in that regard.

For example, here's my train of thought... I can't rob a bank and my defense be "Well the bank manager also did crimes." If that guy was a witness in my court case and it came out he did in fact do crimes, I'm still the one that robbed the bank. Him doing something bad doesn't give me the green light to rob the bank. It's not going to lessen my sentence or anything.

Or am I completely missing something with what their roles are in all of this?
