I think there was some one shot she did where her comment at the end was straight up something about loving stories about trashy deadbeat women. Bless Kodama Naoko.

Yeah, that was Mousou Envy. There's also Moratorium, where she abandons all subtlety and points out her favourite character like so:

Thanks! That's actually a series I have on my follows, but I stopped for a couple months, then tried to pick it up and was a bit lost, and haven't gotten back around to re-reading it. Will probably have to fix that soon.

in light of it getting an anime adaption you could read Koi to Yobu Niwa Kimochi Warui I re-read the early chapters and Ryou is actually trash lol. I was thinking about what this one is doing beyond just being an age-gap fantasy of being the object of a crush from the high spec salaryman and I think it's also getting into that "heavy love" trope. I haven't really seen anything discussing that so this is just my observation from reading a few other manga that explore it, but it's sort of "yandere-adjacent" where the love interest is obsessed with the MC but not to the point of being murderous or anything. It creates conflict in the relationship where the love interest is continuously pushing and the MC pushes back, and introduces tension because there's always the possibility they might go too far and then you've got drama. It also engages the MC to explore what they like and don't like -- in most of the ones I've read the MC is inexperienced and figuring out what they want in a relationship and part of their role is to communicate what they're comfortable with and to set boundaries. You can see that in the linked manga as Ichika scolds Ryou and rebuffs his more overt, comical gestures while slowly warming up to him when he's genuine. In some ways Ryou is also inexperienced which helps to explain why he acts like such an idiot towards her -- he's shown to be uninterested in others, he sleeps around with women he can't even bother to remember the names of, and is arrogant and accustomed to getting what he wants from others without having to ask for it. Having that turned around on him and being rejected (and verbally abused) is a new experience and part of what's entertaining about the manga is watching him have to get his head around what that means and how to deal with it. Also his scumminess is part of the comedy, and works to contrast his high spec appearance and deflate it.
