but don't read into that. i'm sure it's a coincidence and means nothing about the crime president.

Roberts can rule that privilege but that still doesn't mean anything will happen. The DOJ isn't going to do anything and there is no mechanism in place to force them to do anything otherwise. They will vote to not convict Trump citing "lack of evidence". Roberts and the GOP have their cover. The chuds will laugh at "owning the libs".

I really, really hope for a different outcome but as of the moment I don't see it working out any way but this.

It's angels on pinheads because Collins would much rather go down in the General and continue to swim in the Republican pond than get ostricized, targeted by red hat rage and then primaried by some tech millionaire that cosplays country by raising exclusively white alpacas.

They have to keep kissing Roberts' rear end though. If Trump can't keep his house in order there's no way he's going to do the dirty work for him.

Those people may not be convinced to vote Democrat, but they may just opt out of voting in the next election. This will also galvanize everyone just left of center to get out and vote. The GOP has run off the myth the country is more conservative than it is because Hilary was such an awful candidate: she assumed the presidency was her's, she didn't campaign in the blue wall states to ensure the wall remained, she was already disliked and the debacle with Bernie buried her. 2016 wasn't an embrace of conservatism it was a middle finger to the Clinton's and Hilary especially. The next candidate isn't saddled with her baggage, plus Florida will be a hilarious if the Democrats get all the ex-convicts to register to vote since they can do that now. Oh yeah that reminds me last election when Hilary ran out of funds for her get out and vote initiatives, she didn't plunk more money down to keep it going, she stopped and that lack of effort didn't help.

The whole "own the libs" thing doesn't work unless you make a vulgar display of power to show dominance. Nothing so far has come close to that.

I agree with a lot of what you said. Hillary was a losing candidate from the moment she entered the race again and she did nothing to change that. There was a lot of smugness in the DNC that showed on election night. I will disagree on not every Trumper isn't a die hard follower. With everything that he has done and said and his poll numbers have barely moved seems to show that he can do little to lose their support. He would spin it as being triumphant in stopping the "Impeachment Hoax".

The numbers do look better for the Democrats this election. The fluke of winning PA will likely not happen again. The GOP has to win FL, NC, WI and AZ which would be steep. The big thing will be getting people to the polls. I am honestly surprised that there isn't a group that is mobilizing driving people to polling centers nationwide yet.

I keep having this sinking feeling that not only will trump be acquitted and become even more insufferable than ever. He will also win reelection but not the popular vote (which he will in fact lie about in an enraging fashion). The GOP will hold the senate and expand their majority. I really hate to be a debbie downer but drat I am sick of getting poo poo on.

ehh. he will brag and become more insufferable but that won't help him outside the base. every gently caress up/rear end in a top hat move/spiteful deed is more red meat to dems/libs/lefties/indies/etc to turn out in mass. if the last 2 elections were red waves or trump learned from his mistakes, id be worried. right now i am not. PA will probably go blue as will other states. bernie/warren/biden/snoopy/whover wins the primary is going to campaign to hell and back in the places clinton hosed up.

That is the big thing. PA absolutely needs to swing back blue, which it likely will. Then the Democrats only need to worry about winning one of WI, NC, AZ. It is a much easier path to victory. Trump needs to win FL and the other three.

That is also saying that he does nothing insane between now and November. He already touched a third rail which is Social Security and immediately tried to walk it back. That will come back haunt him in the general. Old people might love him but they love social security more.

It's this all the way down. I mean DOWN.

Trump's going to come out of this saying "see? They tried everything and I am still MAGAing. Witch Hunt! MAGA!"

I'm glad he was impeached and I know he's a criminal who deserves to rot but I'm worried about people who are disengaged but who still vote will be all "welp, he was found innocent so whatever". An alarming percentage of the voting populace don't stay informed, often due to being overworked and unable, and republicans count on it by granting them the "freedom " to work 60 hour weeks across two jobs and "cutting their taxes"

Well his Presidency immediately started off bad. Honestly I thought the failure of the repeal of Obamacare would have sunk him. I mean he has no legislative or policy win in three years now. Economically the country looks good on paper but it has been hot shot for the last three years and the cracks are getting harder to ignore.

I mean he is still shouting his greatest hits at his “rallies” and the only new thing is some insane rant about toilets? I can’t believe how his supporters aren’t goofed on by average people everywhere.
