Nah, it's just the leg violently moving around after the truck tires regrooved the driver's cerebral tread.

There's no evidence the truck driver even noticed the loss :stare:

Why do we see so many of these videos from China? Is it just more population=more video, or they haven't had the time to develop the regulations and oversight after more recently industrializing, or do they just have a culture of not giving a gently caress?

Fracking turns out to be even worse than previously thought.

For anyone who didn't read the article (or some other thread I saw it posted in - not sure where I'm getting my story from here :v:), my recollection is that the fracking process itself isn't worse in terms of creating this radioactive brine - you get it from conventional wells too (as with fracking, depending on what's in the ground) - but fracking tends to happen closer to where people live, which is what makes it worse.

The smoke sits on top of the CO2?

If there was actually methane there, would it explode instead?

It's not that the fracking always ends up with radioactive brine, it seems radioactive contamination just occurs in some underground areas and not others. But the brine isn't being tested to see if it's regular brine or radioactive brine so in some areas they're pouring radioactive waste onto roads and dumping it into wells and no-one is checking up on the industry because the EPA gave them a pass to do it.

We're still finding out about some of the nuclear industries dirty secrets from the last 50 years. The oil & gas industries dirty nuclear secrets haven't popped up on the general radar yet.

No, because methane is less dense than air and would rise away and dissipate. If the flare was close enough to the source it might ignite.

Plus China has a lot of cameras everywhere. By 2018 there were 400 million cameras installed. Things like this must happen in a country like India just as much if not more, but we might not get as much footage from there.

How do multiple generations of a pig farming family die from the gas coming from a pond of poo poo then, is it some other gas or is the methane being expelled fast enough that there's always a deadly amount at ground level unless there's enough wind?

I think you can get hydrogen sulphide out of slurry pits as well as methane, which is 1.36kg/m³, or slightly heavier than air. And H₂S will kill you dead.

Hydrogen Sulfide is the deadly gas from pigshit lagoons. It's heavier than air and once you hit about ~700ppm or so it'll knock you out in just a couple of breaths, at which point you're fuckin' dead because nobody will be able to extricate you in time. What kills families is people seeing somebody drop, so they run over to help, and then they drop, and then somebody runs over to get the two of them and so on and so on.

Also hydrogen sulfide in high concentrations paralyzes your sense of smell, so you notice it for a couple of seconds and then it goes away so you shrug and continue what you were doing and die.

You most likely won't encounter deadly levels of hydrogen sulfide unless you hang out at pig farms or poorly maintained waste water plants.

Enough gas to be stinky for sure but not enough to completely ruin you.
