I really wish I didn’t need a numpad. There are so many great options for wireless mech keyboards that are smaller form factors.

The newer Niz wireless keyboards have an Fn-toggle that turns UIOP and keys above/below it into a numpad, if that's any help. I never use a numpad, so I don't know how useful an alternative that is.

The Vortex Tab 90 looks like it might fit the bill. I like that it's smaller than a full sized KB without losing the numpad AND it's available with Silent Red switches. That being said, since there's a lot of love for Clear on here, are they quiet enough for an open office layout?

I've used a Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2 TE with their yellow switches (linear, no feedback) for a couple years and decided to switch it up, wanting something to give me feedback and preferably without necessary software and no opinion on lighting and ended up buying this Durgod Taurus with brown switches. I've skimmed this thread and seen that brand as recommended, anything I've missed? I've never felt a brown switch, and I almost went with blue's, but didn't want to annoy my girlfriend. Basically, it won't ship until tomorrow and I can still cancel, so, just making sure I'm getting something good for mostly gaming. Soul Glo fucked around with this message at 06:33 on Jan 19, 2020 |

Continuing my research: there is the Velocifire VM02WS as well, which comes with Outemu Brown switches. This one is cheap enough I could probably just order it to try it out and compare it to the Ducky One 2's sound I currently use (and feel as well, never used browns of any maker). I will say all the research for an office keyboard has me pining for something better at home as well. I don't use the numpad at home and after using the Ducky at work, the HyperX I have at home for gaming just seems rattly by comparison with features I don't really care for (RGB, giant media controls). After I get settled in with a new office board, I might just sell the Ducky and replace it with some form of TKL. E: Another: the Keychron K4. Constellation I posted:Durgod is great. I don't own any, but plenty of goons and other folks do and they're solid. BTW, has anyone had any luck with breakaway/magnetic usb-c adapter dealies? I tried one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Z7XKP76 But it seems the magnetic connection is not quite strong enough to avoid intermittent connection when keyboard is shifted around. I use the keyboard in my lap from the couch often, and results in me moving keyboard on/off lap frequently(mainly due to 2 needy kitties), and so any small movement jiggles the port enough that backlight flickers etc. so I gave up using that particular adapter for this purpose.

This came in today, and it's really nice and oddly scratching the nostalgia center in my brain. I knew the color scheme reminded me of my very first keyboard on my Windows 95 machine I had as a kid, but I guess that also had textured pbt keys-- the texture of the keycaps on this Durgod takes me right back to that thing. This is where I get into dumb things like overpriced keycaps, isn't it? I would kinda like orange ESC, Function and Enter keys.

Pretty sure this is the weirdest keyboard in my collection (which has grown way too fast). It's a chording keyboard based on ASETNIOP. It's kind of a silly toy (for $45 plus shipping from Canada), but I'm enjoying messing with it. https://twitter.com/nekoewen/status/1220751609405198336

Decided to try out jailhouse blues because i have two bags of outemu blues I will never use for anything. They're ok, but I don't think I like them. The thickness of the spacer removes that amount of key travel, it doesn't feel good. It's hit or miss whether they feel gritty, not 100% sure what's causing that but I do have to squeeze the sides of the click jacket together after putting the spacer in, so if I don't do that well enough the sides are probably scraping along the channel in the switch housing. They do feel more tactile than browns but practically everything feels more tactile than browns.

I mean, I know it won't reduce the weird keytravel, but it makes me wonder how much of the weird feeling is the random grittiness vs. the keytravel. Note that I have zero experience with Outemu anything so maybe this post is stupid and I'm too dumb to even understand why.

Lube could help but my god, the amount of time to already do the jailhouse mod + lubing them up, you might as well quit while you're ahead.

Does lube expire or get bad? My tube is about a year old, and I want to lube up another batch of switches for a new board.

I'm sure on some level stem lube is time/temperature sensitive but I'd wager as long as it's been kept indoors at a reasonable temperature it's perfectly fine to still use.

Hey y'all. I'm building a new PC and I figured I might as well get some new keycaps to add to the "fresh" feel of a new system. I found some Hyper Light Drifter-inspired group buy ones that I like, but they're not shipping until like July or something. So, what I'm looking for is a decent, cheap set of PBT keycaps to hold me over until then. They don't have to be particularly fancy, just cheap and something I can order and receive in a week or less. There's some stuff on Amazon but half of them have reviews like "great keycaps, too bad some of them look melted."

Fantastic texture, nice feel etc. If you don't care about backlit then you have lots more options under a different menu. Would buy from them again if/when the times comes.

My wireless Logitech keyboard/trackpad combo I use for my living room TV is slowly dying so I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on the best wireless keyboard thing to use from a couch. I noticed microcenter has a couple keyboard/trackball combos but I've never liked using trackballs so I dunno if it's a good option. Are those little cell phone sized keyboards good at all or are they all cheap junk?

Alright, I got the Dygma Raise finally from DHL, and my early thoughts: I like it! It's going to take a little while to get used to the change from using pinky to hit delete (as on my work Freestyle 2) to using my thumb, but it's also a lot less motion of the wrist to do that. Likewise, once I get home I'm definitely going to have to map PgUp/PgDown/Home/End to keys on Layer 1 as those aren't mapped in the default config (and I can't install the config software on my work computer). While I can't see myself mapping the split spacebar keys right now, once I get used to the keyboard I might as I've noticed all of my spacebar use seems to be from my left thumb on a single button so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The RGB underglow is neat but I'll probably never use it.
