MEANWHILE: remember Mike Tunison/Christmas Ape? well he was one of the decent amount of Deadspin people on the lovely Media Men list, and while he says it didn't happen it still pretty much broke him as a person. https://medium.com/@mike_tunison/hi-im-on-the-lovely-media-men-list-but-maybe-you-already-knew-that-f446aed1f93b

(I don't like the woman who created the list and has ridden it to fame and fortune, but that's another story.)

All days are nights to see till I see thee; and nights bright days when dreams do show me thee.

This is probably not a big deal, Casinos don't really want one side of a bet lopsided, they want to make money off the house take not by "gambling" on people betting on the wrong side.

Its gross that journalism and gambling are mixing but the conflict of interest is overblown.

Yea the issue is less that they're going to support a specific bet and more that they're going to support betting in general

from a pure business perspective that's certainly an interesting deal, partnering with a content house that talks a shitload about gambling

Barstool does gently caress all as far as any kind of journalism though unless we're just taking that to be as literal as you have a blog with words and videos on it.

Honestly. I can see a Barstool branded sports book do super well. A whole casino? Maybe not. But imagine you go to like, MGM and then enter the Barstool Sports Lounge and Sport Book?

There's a strip club in Detroit named Trumpp's that gets made fun of for being, purely on assumption alone, the most hellish place on Earth. The city is trying to shut it down for various violations, but there's political backlash from idiots to consider.

A Barstool sports book might top that.

if you haven't read Jason Whitlock's Kansas City Star columns...man, they may have been some of the worst modern sports-writing (I say "modern" because a lot of the purple prose stuff from like the '30s up til the '70s should be its own category) I've ever read.

this is a man who thought the height of humor was calling the Chiefs' QB "Trint Green"--because he threw a lot of picks, geddit?--and of course would always point out that they'd be better off signing Jeff George, whom he blocked for at Indy Warren Central.
