Hi, thanks for your second post in this thread. If you'd refer to the OP, you'd see that rapid-fire TVIV style posting during hearings is allowed here, while reactions without context would not be in USPOL.

I'm sure Pam Bondi appreciates this epic own you've done on her behalf, though.

Good to know that the rules only matter until they don't. Thank you for the explanation, guy who shits on everyone who posts like you did a moment ago!

Then we could make our nation rejoice

And, maybe, we’d be happy for a while
But January made me shiver

With every vote that Mitch delivered

Bad news from the trial;

I couldn’t take one more liar
I can’t remember if I cried

When I heard about Trump’s endless bribes
But something touched me deep inside

The day our democracy died

So bye-bye, you American Lie

My fear is that voter registration is public information in many states, available with an information request.

Name, address, party affiliation.

Boy howdy, I can see how the chuds might be able to leverage this information during an election riot to do some good old fashioned domestic terrorism on the terrible socialist communist fascist Demoncraps who subverted the righteous election process with their tricks.

This is why I am not technically registered to any party. I'd rather not be on some chud's "to murder" list because I lived next door to him after an electoral upset.

It doesn't require them to spark a full civil war or anything. Just an angry orange man who gives them an excuse to lash out and create a temporary (but visceral) spike in domestic terrorism and a pointer to a list of people to blame.

Trump comes on tv election night:
"I've learned that there has been significant interference in our elections, I'm asking the state election reps do not certify the results of any election until we figure out what's going on". Followed up by Mitch saying no new senators will be confirmed until the investigation is completed.

It would be like the 2000 election x 30.

Would be a nice chaotic thing where the chud state governments do not certify and the non chud governments do, leading to a loving madhouse nutjob shitshow?

There aren't 270 electoral votes worth of Republican governors.

The federal government doesn't actually administer national elections. The states vote, and they send their results and representatives. Senators are employed by the states, not Mitch. Swearing people in is a formality.

I’m kind of amazed that someone thought of this. The last few years has really shown how fragile the American political system is when one side decides to ignore all the pinky swears and decorum-standards that hasn’t been replaced by hard, concrete legislation.

This is from ten yea *checks notes* five hours ago, but it's an interesting historical tidbit - the framers did this for exactly the opposite reason you'd expect today. Before the 12th Amendment, the President and VP were the candidates who got the most and the second-most votes in the electoral college, respectively, meaning that the VP was almost certainly the President's political rival - so if the VP had been in charge of impeachment proceedings, you'd expect him to be hustling the Senate toward removal.

I agree it's very far fetched and unlikely, but this whole election, combined with the Republicans' willingness to cheat and our society's capacity to just shrug and let them off the hook for it is really loving with me.

The issue with this is it would almost certainly be asking for succession at best or civil war at worst. Any option would mean if they were to hold on to power it would be meaningless.

Now we live in the worst timeline and it is obvious that Trump and the GOP are not acting rationally or with a full deck of cards.
