Billie Eilish loving rules though, she didn't win the four big Grammies just because they felt like giving it to some random kid. She's not just some random shitepop act with one catchy song. To whit;

It's basically a team sport to them imo. Their (plucky underdog) team won and they will gloat. The real consequences for the country, poor regions and vulnerable individuals don't factor into that baseless tribalism.

You can tell that Brexit is mostly a psychological thing rather than a political thing, because all the Leavers call the Remainers traitors and all the Remainers call the Leavers racists.

If it was based on actual politics the Leavers would be calling the Remainers racists for voting to stay in a eurocentric white supremacist gang, and the Remainers would be calling the Leavers traitors for knackering the country.

No, it's just that Brexit is a fascist endeavour and the far right always project. Leavers are both racists and traitors - to be more exact, the leaders are both but the followers are just racists, as treason requires active and knowing collusion. I've been calling out Mogg, Farage and Banks as traitors since Day 1. Meanwhile the Leavers aren't about to start calling anyone racist as an insult because they think racism is good.

Sure but if this was being done as an actual serious political project rather than tribalism and Tory grandstanding then the only good reasons to leave were the Bennite ones.

There was no argument nor possibility of that though, because there was no left faction even really involved, it was right wing liberals vs. right wing nationalists.

That's the mad part.
Who records the new Bond Theme song is treated by the British public as some glorious quest for musicians to go on.
A high award that they have to aspire to reach.
This overlooks the fact that loads of musicians have secretly recorded Bond themes that just don't get picked up. (I think Ed Sheeran said he did this in an interview a while back.)

And in the end they just complain about the results. Because the understated message produced by the British media is that a Bond song should be classic.
IE it should be Shirley Bassey's Goldfinger, done again and again.

The only Bond song that was judged to have reached that goal was Adel's "Skyfall."

(I did not like Skyfall the song. But I hated Skyfall the movie even more.)

The last Bond song (the theme to Spectre done by Sam Smith.) was tonally a Skyfall/Goldfinger style number, but didn't catch on with the public at all. (Possibly because Dam Smith as an openly gay singer isn't what the nostalgia brigade want. Or possibly because Spectre was also an awful movie.)

The nostalgic idea that there is one type of Bond theme is a Boomer fantasy perpetrated by a willing media.

It ignores how so many Bond films have had really good Bond songs without being the same song over again.

"Nobody Does it Better" by Carley Simon, "Love and Let Die" by Sir Paul McCarthy,
"A View to a Ki" by Duran Duran,
"Goldeneye" by Tina Turner
"You Know My Name" by the late Chris Cornell or the much maligned "Another Way to Die" by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

They are all great, different songs. And they are all Bond themes. They try to do something different even if it doesn't fit with the notion that a Bond song should be a woman singing the the name of the film in a high note.

Also the best James Bond song that wasnt actually a James Bond song was "A Man For All Seasons" by Robbie Williams.
A song that was used as the theme to a James Bond style movie (Johnny English) sung by a man who was going through a period of wanting to be James Bond (Sir Robin of Williams. )

As for Billie Elish, wouldn't it be cool if her career in the pop industry was just a cover from her actual goal. To be a high profile 16 year old collecting evidence of paedophiles in the music industry. Like it comes to a head when she publically pulls her badge out at the next Grammys and arrests Drake.

Schlagenheim was really good but 6Music are doing a top job of putting me off it by playing the opening track all the loving time. Radio playlists are dogshit and should be destroyed.

I have no idea what my favourite record of last year was because there was too much music for me to listen to everything. But the first thing that jumps out in my head was King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard's Infest The Rats' Nest. Which was the weird Aussie psych-rockers doing a thrash metal album about climate change & it was dope.

Also, while I'm here, Live & Let Die is the only good Paul McCartney post-Beatles song. Despite Bond themes normally being as crap as Bond films.

There was a similar thread of Lib Dem Remainers constantly going on about the bad parts of the EU (like highly mobile low tax capitalism or My Second Home In France) as good things too, but either way it was a battle between liberals and nationalists and the nationalists won.

The important question is where this leaves the left going forward, because neither liberalism nor nationalism are desirable left wing projects.
