Vanquish would probably have been a far better game this gen, and better received. Anything carrying the stink of a cover shooter had to prove itself against every other game in that group, and at a glance Vanquish didn't stand out at all. In 2020 with a bigger budget and some polish it would've been lauded as a nostalgic triumph.

Vanquish would've still bombed this gen as a 60 dollar 5-8 hour long linear title with no replay value (other than high score chasing) like plenty of games (especially B-games) from non big brands did and occasionally still do.

It's not a surprise that you wouldn't like it if you're not a fan of deduction games, though, and I'm sorry that people kept giving you poo poo over you not liking deduction games. I'm not sure if you said anywhere that you were hoping that the game would turn into some other kind of game genre-wise and I don't understand why the idea of aliens would have been so out there given what is already presented in the game and explained in that last chapter, but it's okay that you don't like it either way. I still have to hard disagree on it not being special, though.
