You'd have to explain to them why it's bad first and then you gotta talk Kissinger and most people don't know who he is either. It's a bad look but not a winner for the leadership.

Hahaha Holy poo poo that's the most lib analogy ever. e like, it's incredibly on brand to completely conflate landlord rights and abortion rights for lib, but man is that not a take I expected at all. In fact one of the most influencial pro choice philosophy papers argues something similar except instead of tenants it's something that broke into your home, regardless of if you left the window open or got a fancy security system. The argument already exists, why modify it to be shittier?? Miftan fucked around with this message at 13:11 on Feb 7, 2020 |

Jameela Jamil is pretty solidly Correct on most social issues, but as ever, she's rich, so she's imperfect and prone to a lens of privilege. I didn't know she'd come out, but it's not even slightly surprising. That is a terrible analogy though.

As for the second bit...ascribing the myriad causes and effects of 40ish years of post-industrial decline and the cultural, economic and political failure to deal with it "almost entirely" on a Scottish Labour, who besides anything else were in power at Holyrood for less time than the SNP have been, is a hell of a take.

I don't think there's ever going to be a case where coming out in response to something except maybe like... pride month, or one of the awareness days, or whatever... will seem like anything but a post-facto justification. It sucks that it seems that way though; the fact that queer peoples' narratives are always 'assumed to be straight until explicitly stated otherwise, and sometimes even then' in these situations is kind of a problem. It's because the British liberal class balk at the idea of someone using lethal force to defend their home environment (whether owned or rented), but are fine with an absentee landlord evicting an unworthy tenant who later dies.

Also they're assets, not homes. Some of them are aggressively far from being homely, where the whole point is to stop you feeling like you belong there so you won't complain too much when they turf you out.

You then sub-let the double bedroom to 4 Romanian girls while kipping round your girl/boyfriend's place thereby making twice as much rental income from the illegal sub-let as you are paying the landlord. I personally know this happens.
