When they went to the scene in the 5 seasons I told my wife "Why is that dude trying to grab his boobs? Dude seems a bit confused?" It didn't really come off as tickling. At first I thought he was just touching him in his surgical incision spot from where he lost his kidneys and he was uncomfortable with that but nope it was just a prelude to tickle porn

I've been enjoying most of this season but this latest episode managed to hit every button to just infuriate me. Betty not using the answers but getting caught with them anyway was maddening because as soon as I saw the answer sheet I knew exactly where they were going to go with it. Archie letting his lovely uncle ruin his dad's business is insultingly dumb even by Archie's standards and just... predictable. Every plot point this week was just a big pile of "Why are you doing this?!? Why are you so stupid?!" Even the rum plot isn't an exception, because Cheryl and Veronica are somehow convinced that the patrons of Penelope's brothel won't recognize Penelope there if she's wearing a mask. Riverdale being dumb as hell is usually one of its assets because it's always full of bizarre surprises, but the twists and turns this week just felt.... tired. IDK. I'm positive the writers do things like this on purpose, they come up with nonsensical idea (Penelope is working at her old club in a mask and this somehow fools everyone) and then actively try to make it even sillier (the mask she wears is a mask of her own face).

No, but if you only expect to use someone a few times a season, and they're maybe reluctant to return to acting (she wrote a great essay about how being John Hughes' muse was a mixed experience for her) you might pay them more per episode than some of the regular cast.

Things I learned this week: Having revenge porn is okay to give yourself insurance? Archie can be literally thrown through a bathroom sink but Kevin gets a gentle push and is down for the count? This show continues to underplay Kevin as a character. At least he’s found a lucrative profession.

Yeah this part came across as really hosed up to me. Like, the videos are clearly porn, and they got him really drunk, filmed it, and then used the tapes to blackmail him. That's... not okay. Was he even doing anything explicitly evil? Like yeah okay he was absolutely going to date rape Cheryl that time, but this time he seemed to be just looking for a new bar to hang out in? Fair enough kick him out and ban him for life, I'm not saying Cheryl should be forced to hang out with him because of the free market or anything. It still felt really hosed up and I'm sure it would have been treated differently if that exact scenario had happened to any of the leads.

So I'm not like a "yeah! Prison Justice!" kinda guy but the dude is a rapist so I don't feel bad about it. Plus Cheryl, Toni, and probably Fangs are borderline bad people so this is pretty on par, my question was why drag this plot back out? Did the writers run out of ideas or were they like "we want to toy with the idea of rape with this tickle porn stuff, which character could we get away with doing it to?"

Yeah, Toni straight up killed a guy this season so this really isn't out of character for her. She's really nice and down to earth when she's not doing crimes, but when she does do crimes she goes hard. Then Cheryl helped dispose of the body. I'm pretty sure Fangs has killed before too. And as for why the writers decided to bring this plot back...I have no idea. Last time we saw Nick he was talking about how his crime lord father was considering disowning him because of all the humiliations he'd gone through in Riverdale, and then Veronica humiliated him yet again. I kind of figured his dad would just kill him off screen.
