Sure, there's a lot of us who aren't terrible. Hell, even a majority of us didn't vote for Trump.
Voting for somebody who's going to get Trump elected is pretty terrible. It's not as terrible as voting for him, for sure, but it's a pretty obvious consequence of what a lot of people did in 2016 and what a lot of people are signaling they intend to do this year.

i am a strategy consultant by trade (lol fake job) but i get to see a lot of senior leadership of very large private sector companies up close. a lot of them are pretty competent. but the fundamental disconnect between a businessperson and what you do in government is this: as a businessperson, you can always choose to exit the business and the consequences are pretty low. making widget A isn't profitable anymore? fuckin don't make widget A anymore, nobody's gonna die. these decisions aren't very hard. you put your capital to the things that make money or you think will make money. on the other hand in the government, sometimes you HAVE to do things. you HAVE to fund the police and the schools and pave the roads and do all these things, and a) you can't unilaterally decide not to and b) deciding not to do things potentially has life-or-death consequences for people. you can't just choose to not fund the fire department because education has a better ROI without people pushing back or possibly dying in the process. i think that's what people really don't understand about "running the government like a business"

Krakkles

I agree completely, but would like to add: Generally when people are talking about "businessmen" as candidates, it's not just businessmen. It's billionaire businessmen, and you don't get to be a billionaire by giving a poo poo about anything except your own profit, and that's not really compatible with good presidential decision making. Obviously.

Granted the orange fucknugget probably isn't an actual billionaire, but he's closer than I'll ever be.

So my PC shutting off at random...

It stopped for awhile. So I've been sitting on this new power supply.

I plugged in my USB A to USB C cable yesterday to transfer some stuff on my phone. As I was bending it to plug it into the phone, I saw a small spark and the PC shut off. :stare:

GF's wire-destroyer cat chewed up the cable. :fuckoff: It's normally plugged in and just left dangling. I wonder if that's why it's been shutting off this whole time? It's been unplugged a couple of weeks. I also stupidly opened the box for the new PSU, and have no idea where the receipt is, so I probably can't return it.

Oh well. Probably gonna do a new build this year, it'll come in handy then. I think at this point, the power supply is the third oldest part in this PC. The 1st and 2nd are a 500GB and 1TB HDD, both are over 10 years old, both have over 8 years of spin time on them. I don't even really use them anymore (one of them has my porn collection, the other is just sitting there empty).

Get some graphite powder, give each lock a little spritz. You can get it at any parts store that also cuts keys. One of the keys will probably start working pretty decent again.

If there's more storage or power needed I shove it over to the server with dual E5 2690v2s hence the fiber.

Rebuilt and I had doubts since it looked pretty lovely and like it was just painted over rust and dirt and poo poo though I gave them the benefit of the doubt since none of that had anything to do with the seals. I should have rejected it instantly since it was definitely below my standards of the work that I do which is why I also repainted it. No huge deal since it was 150 bucks but losing the time and 90 bucks on the alignment pisses me off for not sending it back when I saw the lovely paint. I took video of the paint before I fixed it but I deleted it when I ran low on space and regret that now.

I tried everywhere to leave feedback but it must time out after some length of time since I couldnt and I really wanted to.

Next time Im in Florida Ill bring it with me and toss it in his lawn so he hits it with his mower and ruins his day. I got time, Im a very patient man.
