Never read the original novel and Dracula never really interested me, so I'm sure there's enough to complain about (especially the third episode) but one thing I absolutely love is and respect is how good Sister Agatha's Dutch accent is. It's pretty much spot on, nearly perfectly done, which is a nice change because usually they just use a random vaguely European sounding accent (or worse, just use a German accent or have them speak German outright and call it Dutch.)

The Dracula miniseries had such a weird drop in quality. First episode pretty good, second episode ok but enjoyable and then episode three was just a collection of bellowing farts

Episode 3 could have been her telling Dracula to suck on this and then do a garlic fart on his fangs, one tiny scene cut to black fin.

The Castlevania series has a new season coming out soon and doesn't even bother with the accents.

Less subtle but more of an interesting character trait that I didn't expect - in season 6 of The Office when Michael goes to see David Wallace, you find out that there is a reason he was hired on at the company as a CFO and not a founding member, because left to his own devices he has no idea how to start his own thing off. He completely fails to pitch his idea to Michael, he's good at doing numbers, but when it comes to sales or R and D he's kind of hopeless. I thought him being kind of lost after being fired along with the rest of the top brass was a neat humanising moment.

Cameron's adventure game subplot in the last season of HCF was incredible. I was really surprised she didn't hook up with Donna though, there was insane tension in practically all their scenes.

Pissed Ape Sexist posted:Totally. Iirc New Zealand gave $200M in tax breaks and labor/union casting subsidies, too, as well as donated land on which to build the actual functioning still-there Shire (which is a big tourist place now). They knew it would be huuuuge and really took great pains to sell the locations by offsetting expense for their boy Pete's pitch. New Zealand also changed their labour laws to outlaw collective bargaining for anyone in the film industry by classing them all as independent contractors.

Whilst that was done expressly for Petey Jackson and the LOTR films, has it had a knock-on effect of attracting more big foreign films to NZ to exploit their workers? Or has it just hurt those on the frontline of the local film industry?

It's a weird trade-off, though, because it might bring in more work that pays better to the region... but likely just balances out with the crippled bargaining. Local governments trip over their own dicks to promote big-budget filming because it provides a huge temporary cash influx without needing infrastructure. Every person needs food, lodging, places to go shop on breaks, sets need construction and security, permits need to be filed and paid, portajohns, catering, equipment rentals, and it can all be zipped up when it's done with minimal fuss and you have a great commercial for your place that was made by other people.

She's by far the best new addition to Terminator since Robert Patrick.

I'm someone who says they need to just let Terminator come to an end already, BUT, if they insist on continuing to make sequels then casting people like Mackenzie Davis is a good way to make the movies watchable for reasons beyond dumb fanservice.
