He's pretty clearly admitting he's a workaholic, which is generally the case with people who find so much success at such a young age. He's known he should work less for a long time, and he's struggled to make himself do it. I'm sure it also doesn't help that any time he considers scaling back, he probably worries that he's going to gently caress over the livelihoods of the people who work for him, who are more or less his only friends.

The 'employees talk about Linus' video had him as a non-stop workaholic. I took this as a thirtysomething Linus contemplates mortality / the impact of his workaholism. The thing is, I don't think he actually wants to stop it, you don't work 16 hour days without it being in your personality. He's smart enough to see how it's impacting his family and I hope for his sake he can scale back.

Linus is only like 31 I think. Dozens of staff, huge contracts, tight deadlines and two or three kids. Stress factory. No wonder he drops poo poo. I think scaling back is wise. Everyone loves his other hosts anyways. Most recent videos he’s kinda in the passenger seat while someone else does the real work which seems like it’s an easier role. Alex does 90% of the stuff to watercool the RED (thankfully as he seems to semi know what he’s doing).

I haven't seen any mentions of EEVBlog here yet. I'll admit that he's not really a "traditional" YouTube tech idiot. Watching his dumpster diving videos makes me sort of sad I don't work in an office complex. As for techy stuff people might find interesting, he has a load of debunking videos including several on the whole solar roads thing from a bunch of years back.

Crotch Fruit posted:Saw that he put $200 in quarters into an arcade machine just to make the slot sound right, and his suspiciously dated OPL chips. The chips was actually interesting, I wonder what their story is, if anything I personally would like a modern reproduction better than an original. LGR's video on the Yamaha sound chips mentions and links to a video that goes more in-depth about them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k72SFBOZ_lw Basically, they're pulled from old boards, sanded to remove the marking on them, put a new coating on top, and then etch new markings on them. By doing this, you lose all history of the chip - you don't know it's real manufacturing date, what revision, or if it's even actually the chip that the markings say it is.

Yeah, I have no idea. I wish there was a proper summary of what happened, because it must have been clown college. Over on Ars, in the relevant thread, people are talking about it, seemingly knowing details, but not really linking them (apart from a few unreadable stray pages). But apparently in typical DrPizza fashion, he was being a know-it-all fuckwad again, and did a testimony in self-defense, against the better judgment of his lawyer, and it must have been so annoying that court spectators left in the middle of it.

It's extremely likely that he is in fact a pedophile, and just not stupid enough to leave concrete proof sitting around for the FBI to acquire. It's also quite likely that that very short story is not listing the entirety of the case against him.

here's some more detail from another article: https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/peter-bright-pedophilia-case-update/quote:In June, the Daily Dot reported that Bright had been charged with online solicitation of sex with children. In online correspondence on Kinkd with an undercover FBI agent posing as the mother of a seven-year-old girl and nine-year-old boy, Bright reportedly wrote of molesting both and raping the girl. He further allegedly sent pictures of his penis, as well as test results showing he did not have an STD.

Someone finally found the solution to the unfortunate loudness of pc fans: using watercooling equipment and neodymium magnets to create a giant, silent bellows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77Y7DHfoFOk Sure, it'll double the size of your fulltower but in for a penny, in for a pound. Xerophyte posted:Someone finally found the solution to the unfortunate loudness of pc fans: using watercooling equipment and neodymium magnets to create a giant, silent bellows: Huh, that's really interesting and different, since watching that video this morning I keep thinking about it. The thing I'd immediately point out is that a fan with equal volume, not just the same frontage area like his 4 noctua fans, would be a bigass box fan. A box fan would do his silly bag inflation test so fast it would make the bellows look stupid. On the plus side, the static pressure rating of bellows is yes. And the bellows box will have fairly linear performance across any speed range, down to as slow a speed as you want to move the plate. A standard fan has minimum RPM ratings, both from the motor and because fan blades become inefficient if their airfoil is moving too slow. Last thing is that if you made a PC based on that concept it would need a ton of free air space around it. Normal fans in boxes tend to take fresh air in on one side, and exhaust hot air to a different direction. If you build a PC box on one side of the bellows box, as soon as the plate reverses direction it just pulls the same air it exhausted back in. All your cooling is about the air mixing outside the case before being drawn back in. If you have it under a desk or something it would have really bad performance. Cool channel though, the broken laptop to HTPC conversion was pretty cool.
