There should just be a "gently caress it" exhibition class a le mans for things like Project 400 and people who just wanna drop a CART engine into a 911 or bring back a 917k where you're not rewarded for race position but rather how much cool poo poo you can cram into the car and records you can break. Is this the worst idea? yes. Would it be hilarious and fun? also yes.

They already have too many people trying to get into the rain without the real wacky ideas. At least have fun and useful ideas, like hydrogen, or allowing handicapped drivers to compete.

The NHRA made a change to their P L A Y O F F structure. Basically, every full-time team that puts down qualifying runs is automatically in the Countdown. https://www.nhra.com/news/2020/nhra-announces-changes-countdown-championship-points-structure However… https://www.autoweek.com/racing/nhra/a30792414/nhra-headache-top-fuel-champ-steve-torrence-others-skipping-season-opening-winternationals/ quote:What if the NHRA threw a 60th anniversary party and the reigning king of the “Kings of the Sport” didn’t show up? quote:The trouble is that Torrence’s absence has greater complications. He’s not the only one opting out of the Winternationals. The Top Fuel class will now be missing three of the top seven racers from last year’s final standings.

i didn't realize this until they were talking about it during the broadcast but the pro stock champ from 2 years ago is in arca now. That's a pretty good sign the pro category is dead with nitro probably not too far behind

Ferrari have expressed interest in LMDh: https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/ferrari-lmdh-prototype-entry-coletta/4682748/ Makes you wonder how unappealing the hypercar regulations must be if Ferrari would rather join LMDh and build their own monocoque.

The quotes from the Ferrari dude make it sound like the LMDh regs might differ enough from DPi that they could build just the monocoque and buy the remaining chassis parts from one of the LMP2 manufacturers, presumably Dallara. But I hope we don't go down that road at all.

So i'm completely new to motorsports and i've found i've got a hankerin' for sports car racing. Started watching some Goodwood videos on youtube recently which were cool, and then watched a few hours of the 24 hours of Daytona after it was a recommended video. Then I parked my rear end on the couch and ended up watching several hours straight of the Bathurst 12hr last week which was awesome to watch since i already knew that course well from years of Gran Turismo and Forza. All of the rules and different racing leagues are still fairly confusing but after watching a few other recent races i'm starting to figure what the hell is going on. A few things of note that stood out to me so far as I test the waters of sports car racing: -Big Body Bentleys are the Best -Earl Bamber is loving everywhere -Safety cars breed safety cars -Kangaroos should be standard on all courses -Prototypes are fun but GT racing is #1 in my heart Bloopsy fucked around with this message at 01:38 on Feb 11, 2020 |

If you want to see more of the sports cars that were at Bathurst (and also as the GTD class at Daytona), the YouTube channel for that group should have plenty of its live coverage and highlights still up from 2019: https://www.youtube.com/user/gt1world It’s nothing but GT cars, and plenty of endurance races at famous tracks.

If you buy before thanksgiving it would be about 150 all in for a 4 day pass and parking (which is your campsite.) Making your own food is obviously cheaper but track food isnt bad or horribly priced. 24 packs of beer (tall boys) are 24 bucks.

That could be real good, Alpine are historically a very strong team in P2. Calderon is definitely the worry in that lineup, she was WELL off the pace, even of other Ams, in the Lamborghini at Daytona. Hopefully she does a little better in a downforce car. Edge of points in F3 is solid enough pace for the Am driver in an ELMS car so she should be fine with some practice.
