I'm liking that track. Going to have to check them out.

All 3 of these Polaris singles and all 3 of these Invent, Animate singles have been complete bangers. Excited to get two real strong aoty contenders in the next few weeks.

Never heard Invent, Animate and it's right in my wheelhouse. Added those three songs to my playlist. Thanks for sharing!

There's this small part of my heart that will always love bands like Static X for getting me into metal, even if I these days I can barely make it through more than two or three of their songs in a row. And I will gladly play the new album(s), if only out of respect

I live 1/2 way between Atlanta and Charlotte, so I got to see Periphery twice in 2 days.

Last night in Charlotte, though, Spencer's voice gave out so he only managed to sing like 4 songs. He was talking about how he was worried about having to cancel the tour if it got any worse, so I hope its not a chronic thing.

But he did crowd surf from the stage back to the sound booth to watch the rest of the show to make up for it. Then the band finished the rest of the songs instrumental

e: Also he changed the words from the song "Scarlet" to "Charlotte"

Honestly, I feel for any vocalist, doubly so with heavy bands. It's loving easy to blow your voice out.

I saw a Facebook post where they announced the next show would be all instrumental because Spencer had laryngitis.

indeed, my buddy was at that show. shame about spencer and double shame that the openers were also all instrumental bands, so no vocals of any kind lmao

for anyone who cares about polaris & also vinyl: they still have pre-orders of the new one, AND i just snagged one of 6 remaining copies of The Mortal Coil they still had for like half the price they are on discogs

outside of a few bangers, their last 2 albums were basically breaking benjamin-core

everything before that is pretty good but no idea what they're playing live nowadays

I don’t mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel. But I am, so that’s how it comes out.
Yeah, but those two songs you posted are exactly the same as these two:

killyourstereo's review posted:

It’s likely that Wage War honey-dicked their fans with ‘Low‘ and ‘Who I Am‘ as the first two singles, given they’re two of the only few heavy songs present. As the vast majority of ‘Pressure‘ instead sees Wage War diving into a done-a-million-times radio-rock, with songs like ‘Forget My Name‘ and ‘Take The Fight‘ sounding like B-sides from an early 2010s Three Days Grace album.
I really liked Blueprints and most of Deadweight, but gently caress those guys. And as for what they're playing live nowadays, nah:

PWD was one of my favorite bands before the last two albums and I am so loving mad they pivoted to catering to massive European festivals with lovely arena rock. Literally their main selling point of their North American tour is bringing a full pyro setup. loving pathetic.

This but All That Remains. What is with good metalcore bands pivoting hard to butt-rock? They trying for some of that mad Five Finger Death Punch megabucks?

e: ATR at least you can chart the bad music correlating to Phil's increasingly open chuddery.

Part of me is a little bit curious in that "can't quite look away from the trainwreck" to see/hear about how chuddier Phil has now become after Jason Richardson has been in ATR for almost a year. Like from everything I heard/read from common friends/acquaintances from both the BOO and CG camps regarding Jason is that, while he's insanely proficient as a guitar player, that he's an insufferable, giant gaping anus, personality-wise.

It's one of those weird exceptions to the rule, sometimes 2 gigantic egos play off each other for years before it comes to a head (see also: David Gilmour/Roger Waters, the Gallagher brothers, etc.) I expect Phil kind of enjoys having a known "edgy" dude in his band.

Woof, yeah I forget sometimes that does happen. Hell, I think that's why Deftones has more or less endured this far without feeling like a complete parody of themselves like most of their generational peers/compadres, thanks to both Chino and Stef being very prone to butting heads.

Yeah, I mean Richardson hasn't recorded any new music with them but I imagine there might be some style/ego clashes if they try to write together.

I have no evidence or anything for this but I like to imagine JR taking the "I can fix him!" role in entering a known toxic relationship. Formerly-awesome metalcore band, just lost their extremely talented guitarist, currently writing lovely music...it just fits.
