Some cats are legitimately chill, and I'm willing to bet living on the street honed this one's instincts about who is/isn't friendly. If the guy saw the cat regularly, I'm sure they built up a rapport. Still a huge leap of faith for the cat though.

One of those times there were 2 police boats patrolling to make sure no one was breaking rules.

Waaaaay back in 2012, we were in the Cook Islands. It's a free layover between Australia and SFO, or it was at the time. You can either go direct or stop and the plane stops like twice a week. Anyway, we had plenty of free time because there's nothing to do on Rarotonga, which was exactly what I needed to relax. Anyway, I wove a little mat out of palm leaves and left it on our table under a coconut. Came back from a long day of doing nothing to find this.
