Dracula loving just reminds me of Stephen Muppet's extremely terrible Dracula series that I wasted like 5 hours watching.

If it helps, I found out this weekend there's an Audible of Dracula read by Tim Curry and Alan Cumming.

I tried watching Twin Peaks and I only made it five episodes because it's just porn-level acting wrapped around a mystery that I know never gets resolved properly and I just don't get David Lynch.

I respect him as a person and as a filmmaker, but I don't get it.

I watched Fire Walk With Me and it's a disjointed mess and nothing makes sense. David Bowie shows up at a police station and freezes time and is never mentioned again.

I like the people he influenced, but I absolutely loathe everything of his that I've seen. Mulholland Dr. is literally a two-hour TV pilot with forty minutes of "eh, it was all a dream I guess" tacked on to the end and people call it genius and I just don't see it. Maybe somebody can explain to me how to watch him, because I'm just not getting it.

I mean, clearly, because I'm not deluded enough to think that everybody whose opinion I respect is somehow wrong about him and I'm the big special genius who thinks the emperor isn't wearing any clothes, but I just can't figure out what I'm missing here.

Lynch is great because he makes dream logic movies that really do feel like dreams, only the dream sequences of Sopranos compare to me.

I think there was a tumblr post that said Tommy Wiseau and David Lynch are the same species but Wiseau is a juvenile and Lynch fully mature.

And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.
If you dont love Lynch being Lynch just watch The Elephant Man which is his least Lynch but a masterpiece of cinema.

i just thought they were weird criticisms, cause like, the reason twin peaks is considered flawed is because they were forced to properly resolve the mystery lol, and of course fwwm wont make any sense if you dont watch the show (ive always hate hate hated people who say its okay to watch the movie first. WTF!!!) and the mulholland drive thing was just straight up reductive. i also sound like a jack rear end defending my noble director from all criticism. the facts are this though: he's a wonderful con artist and i adore his media dearly

Hell yeah!

And yeah, one of the reasons he bailed for such a large part of Season 2 is that the network forced him to explicitly resolve the mystery in the first 6 episodes or so. Once that was done, he left and poor Mark Frost was left trying to put together something to hold the plot together for the next dozen episodes or so till Lynch came back to wrap the series up with the secondary mystery of the Lodge, because the Network had ALSO insisted on doing like four times the number of episodes as season 1 had.

It's part of why The Return was both so unexpected and also such a treat, because Showtime gave him COMPLETE freedom to make whatever he wanted and he went ham and it loving ruled.

The next Director General of the Beeb is expected to be either the former Editor of The Sun (a Murdoch owned paper) or the daughter of Rupert Murdoch. Yeah, the Tories have been running the BBC into the ground for years with the idea of making it lose the trust of a lot of the public and fair play to them, it's worked. I'd not spit on the BBC Politics Editoe if she was on fire.
