The weirdest part of that ad to me is how firmly it's stuck in our collective consciousness. I did a deep dive a year or two back, out of curiosity, and apparently that ad is the origin of the

"(I'm/My name is) <rapper name>
And I'm here to say
<something something something
that rhymes with 'say'>"

pattern that pops up in rap pastiche all the time. I couldn't find a single instance of that pattern appearing before the 1992 ad (although rappers introducing themselves at the beginning of their bit dates back to the 70s).

I'm aware of that pastiche and I'm Australian: we don't even have fruity pebbles, let alone that commercial.

Our collective pop culture consciousness is weird.

Same but it was a Christian rap group that came to my high school and performed such hits as "God is 2 legit 2 quit" and "Christ, Christ Baby"

This is Canadian so the pronunciation is likely going to sound a bit off to our ears. The question is do they pronounce pipeline like guillotine or guillotine like pipeline?

I either pspspspspspsps or ts-ts-ts-ts-ts-ts to get a cat to come over. You have to do the finger thing as well.

I’m no music expert, but I’m pretty sure you can’t slant rhyme two words that don’t have a single vowel sound in common.

My understanding is that it applies to words that look like they should rhyme but don't. I may be mistaking it for a different term but that's definitely a thing, and further, poetic license would theoretically allow someone reading aloud to deliberately mispronounce one of the words for effect. I'll ask my actual poet buddy tomorrow to clarify while we're watching the Leafs game but I'm quite sure that was an appropriate use of the term.

EDIT: It appears the more correct term for this is 'eye rhyme'.

I thought the slant rhyme was rhyme + pipelines, similar but not a perfect rhyme.

I interpreted the guillotine at the end as a sort of non-sequitur (?) rhyme, where you're expecting a rhyme but a completely non-rhyming line follows for comedic effect. I don't know a term for it but I've seen it before. I hadn't noticed that pipelines + guillotine was an eye rhyme until people here discussed it.
